agent jane is a Progressive Alt-Rock band from Memphis,
TN. agent jane seamlessly blends dark edgy soundscapes along with
intense lucid melodies to fuse an emotional balance between good and
evil. Soaring vocals that mutate into distorted whispers overlay a
backdrop of dynamic and artistic instrumentation. Odd metered percussion
rhythms mesh with pulsing heavy syncopated bass lines to create a
collage of textures in which the towering industrial guitars layer into.
Together these elements stir feelings of energy and movement that give
birth to a modern sound with soul-piercing attitude.
agent jane's sound evolved from a fusion of alternative rock and
progressive metal. Being more artistic than trendy, it is difficult to
put agent jane's diverse sound in a neat little box. The music reaches
deep down into a gloomy underworld and explodes into blinding light;
reminiscent of The Cure's ability to be both ugly and beautiful.
Old-school Black Sabbath riffs and hallowing vocals merged with strong
new-school songwriting evoke feelings of a heavy Radiohead.
Hallucinogenic jazz-like time signatures weave into dominant grooves to
create an atmosphere of vulnerability and uncertainness. Songs will flow
from a soft Jeff Buckley touch to an Alice in Chains-like ferocity. The
arrangement of each song is completely unique and will take listeners on
a journey of vivid emotions.

WASTED-You just don't realize how much it meant to me to find you guys on Windows and Reverbnation while they are giving away free downloads, since that is all I do, legally. And from Memphis. That just gave me such a high. This young man has boarded himself up in his home freebasing, smoking crack, drunk, whatever the case may be, he is high, not himself. In this state of nonexistence, he is thinking to himself that he should not be doing this. But his mind and his body are not in sync with each other. Another thing that comes to his mind is suicide, if he is not able to get his act together. Then in the trance-like state he does not believe what he is thinking. This man is restless. Wanting something to do with his life. But soo many things are whipping through his mind, it is driving him crazy. He is wanting to be noticed. He wants attention. He is wanting people to see him. He feels the only way for that to happen and for him to get over the pain is to saturate his body with either chemicals or booze. It's like he is having an out-of-body experience when he gets his high. He is sooo addicted, that he continues to lie to himself about quitting. Putting off that day. He does not have the will to stop. He is allowing the demon to overcome his sense of willpower. To take over his ability to stop. So, he just continues on. To waste his life, his money on chemicals or booze and continue to live in his fantasy world. Well done. This is a sad case, though. A young man who feels his life is meaningless. Continued.
HAILS FROM COVINGTON, TN. Thank you for your patience in my getting back to you. I know that it has been a few weeks and I am sorry for that. I hope that things are going well for you this weekend. THE NIGHT-This song, to me, is about a young man who wishes that if he had some place of his own, some place no one knew about it, how would he found it? He feels that his time is being wasted with this young lady because he is unable to have her. He feels that their fates were not meant to be. He questions if it is just a flight of his imagination, then what else it there. He is unable to have her in his life. She steals the peace that he wants in his life; his self-worth. He did his best to live this lie. He never failed her. But these dreams are doomed. These are things that he reminisces about in the night when he is alone. He realizes that he has done the right thing. This song as far as its meaning sounds like to me like this relationship was secret. No one was supposed to know about it. He was treading on thin ice to begin with. She was seeing him, maybe because there was another man in her life. He finally came to realize that everything that they wanted was a lie. She cannot leave what she has with this other person. It would cost her too much. So the relationship was doomed from the beginning and neither one knew until their feelings for each other began to grow to a point where one was going to end up at the end of a sinking ship. Very well done. Continued.
HOLLOW-This young man is talking allowing himself to be made over by the hand of God. He has opened up his heart, his mind, his soul. He has nowhere else to go, no one else to turn to with the help that he needs. His walls have broken. Defense shields have been dropped. The foundation of his life has been broken. Kicked out from under him. Now, he is searching for peace in his mind, his heart, his soul. He is praying for God's assistance. He wants the healing power that God has to offer him. He is wanting God to heal him, touch him, lift him out of the retched life that he has been living for so long. To take comfort in His arms. To feel security in His arms around. He finally realizes that he is ready to be molded into the man that he knows he can be. He has nothing left to lose. Everything to gain. This young man is suffering, in pain to the point that some people like him can only know. No one knows what he has been through except others who have been through it. Who understands us more that God? Now, he is on the road to salvation. His spirit will return in time. He will be a new person. He will look back on his past and remember. He has overcome the demons of his own freewill. He hit rock-bottom. He is still alive by the Grace of God. This song people should really listen to. I can relate to the same principle, just different (2 divorces based on criminal domestic violence). Great job, guys. Continued.
KHTS RADIO INTERVIEW-I can see this is going to be comical. Brandon Gibson morning show. He is talking about Agent Jane. This is the interview. Talking about "Feeler." They worked on the album for 2 years. They want to create songs that people will listen to over and over again. Agent Jane is explaining where they can be found. All of the places where they can be found. The song being played is "The Night." I love the feeling that is put into all of your songs. It just breaks my heart to think that anybody has to be put through the pain and suffering like this, but some of these I can relate to actual living experiences myself (without the drugs though). You do have a sound all of your own and I like that. You are not trying to sound like anyone else. I know, being raised around professionals, my dad playing the clarinet in a Jazz band, all of the hours, hard work, and the taking away sometimes, of your pleasure time. But when all of the notes, the music, the lyrics and the song are put together to perfection, then you are ready to present it to people like me, fans, friends and audiences to hear.
