This starts Agent Timmy's quest to get folks to change their mind and recycle their underwear. Agent Timmy is looking for polyester undies that can be mailed in or dropped off and recycled. Everyone has some in their closet and he needs everyone's help in rounding up the old, tired, used underwear to be recycled.
Follow Agent Timmy on his journey as he learns the ins and outs of trying to get people to recycle their underwear.
MISSION RECYCLE VIDEO:
WHY RECYCLE:
Research shows that the environmental impact of using worn-out fleece and polyester garments to make new fiber is significantly lower than making that same fiber from virgin materials. Making new polyester fiber from used garments, which have been mailed from customers to Patagonia, results in an energy savings of 76 percent and a CO2 emissions [greenhouse gasses] reduction of 71 percent, versus creating that fiber from new raw material.
WHAT CAN BE RECYCLED:
Just underwear only? Nope, Patagonia has just expanded their Common Threads Recycling Program to include used Polartec-branded fleece by Patagonia or any other company, this is in addition to Capilene baselayers, also know as long underwear, and Patagonia cotton tee shirts. With this ground-breaking expansion, these worn-out items will feed Patagonia's own supply chain to make new clothing for future seasons Patagonia is the first global company in the world to recycle competitors' garments.
