NEW RELEASE 'Lucky 13" - Pedernales Records
*************************
When your dad is a founding father of outlaw country and a major musical legend, at some point, you realize resistance is futile: Even if you don’t seek a career in music, eventually, it’s gonna seek you. Like the Cash and Jennings kids, Paula Nelson picked up “Papa Bear” Willie’s way with a song early on — along with her aunt Bobbie’s skill on piano, which Paula started playing at age 7. Although her dad once advised her, “Remember to watch everything I do and do the exact opposite,” she drew influences from his Highwaymen pals and contemporaries such as Kris Kristofferson’s then-wife, Rita Coolidge, whose bluesy, supple vocal style provided one of Paula’s earliest templates as she found her own voice. Texas Monthly has called that voice “torchy,” and the Los Angeles. Times praised, “There’s no missing the unforced power of Paula’s singing.”

The band’s beat is palpable, with tunes ranging from rockers to ballads to the occasional instrumental. I have taken on every job a touring band can possibly think up. In October 2005, I started this new agency, TRIPLE PLAY ENTERPRISES, where my goals and concerns still revolve around what my friends and clients need me to do. That’s from the hip.” **************************************************************

Hello my friend, sorry that I have not been here in so long. I have had a few things going on in my life that has taken me away from my goals. My father had a stroke last November and has been living with me but he is doing great and I will be taking him back home to Kentucky tomorrow. I had another scare with breast cancer, All is well and I am still cancer free. So I am back and ready to get back to work on my music.
The only way to pass any test is to take the test and remember
it takes as much stress to be a success as it does to be a failure so, when you cannot make up your mind between two evenly balanced courses of action, choose the bolder.

Triple Play Ent., Best of luck with the music biz. Thanks for visiting our MySpace site and for being our friend. We hope that all is well in your life. Below are pictures of some of the various musicians who have been in Black Angel in the past and others who are still in the band. The top picture shows Black Angel at The Roxy in Los Angeles playing to a sold old show on a Saturday night in July a few years ago. In the picture (left to right) are Tomeka Haywood; me; Audrey (Mrs. Ike) Turner; and Ronnie Turner (son of Ike and Tina Turner) on bass. Soon after this picture was taken Audrey and Ronnie left Black Angel to go on a European tour with Ike Turner and the Kings of Rhythm. Audrey recently recorded some new songs with us. The bottom picture is of Tiffany Lowe who recorded some back-up vocals with us on our still unreleased "O' San Francisco" album. Tiffany is the granddaughter of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash and the daughter of country singer, Carlene Carter, and British rocker, Nick Lowe. Tiffany is a lovely, talented girl who was wonderful to work with. Best wishes.

Thank you for adding me to your list of friends. One who knows how to show and to accept kindness will be a friend better than any possession.True friends are like jewels, precious and rare. False ones are like autumn leaves, found everywhere. Your new friend Rhonda Kaye
