MySpace a place for friends

Escaped the clutches of a brain-dead region of the central Midwest ten years ago to relocate in the warm and open embrace of Chicago.

Am currently attending Roosevelt University studying computer science because the world needs more stompy-booted rivethead IT professionals (like there aren't enough already).

After many of frog crushed under my shoe I finally found my Prince Charming. Every minute has been precious. Those who know us are either cooing or puking by now, maybe both.

I have recently been diagnosed with the onset of premature ovarian failure, meaning that I am going through perimenopause at the tender age of 33. As a result, George and I are childfree and from what we have seen with some of our friends and their struggles with parenthood, we are comfortable with that. Our lives are too full as it is to make room for a human being who didn't ask to be brought into such an existence and it doesn't look like that is going to change anytime soon. Should it, adoption is an option, but we don't "require" children to complete our lives the way some people do. This isn't a slam to our friends out there who are parents, either current or expecting. We're more than happy being the freaky aunt and uncle to these kids.

We are in the process of renovating George's childhood home, an Arts and Crafts Movement bungalow built in 1918 on Chicago's Northwest side. It is similar to this layout and was the home of a contractor at the time so it has many little personal touches that we want to preserve. It experienced an "upgrade" in the 1970s and 1980s that is in serious need of a change. We are bringing in modern clean lines while restoring the classic look of the house. We currently share the home with a hyper dog, two cats, a year-old ball python, a baby golden albino African clawed frog and a juvenile bearded dragon.

After years of dealing with hypocritical people in various forms of organised religion, I have become comfortable with finally considering myself an atheist (for those of you who might have a problem with this, see further down). However, I still believe in spiritualism and maybe even a "higher power" since there is still a lot of unknown in the world. This is not to say that I'm agnostic, because I definitely am not. I find the concept of "deities" bullshit in my old age and life experiences.
