AGINA’S FIRST SINGLE “ SOMOS MAR Y ARENA”

This is the first track from her 2009 album debut for Ruthless Records. The album is in Spanish and is produced by José Quintana.

When legendary Grammy winning producer José Quintana (Maná, Juan Gabriel, Vicki Carr ) played Agina’s demos for Maná guitarist Sergio Vallín, Vallín fell in love with her sound and suggested she record his song. He contributed guitar and background vocals to the song and said, “out of all the musicians that I have met around the world, Agina has impressed me with her tone of voice, humbleness and simplicity.” The admiration is mutual, says Agina, “He is so humble, sweet and talented. One of my favorite musicians.”

AGINA’S BACKGROUND

19 year old Agina is a California girl. Born and raised in Southern California in a very Mexican American household, she moved from San Diego when she was very young, and has lived in Riverside/San Bernardino and L.A. with her family ever since.

Agina’s mother is a voice and piano teacher who realized her baby girl would go into the family business when she heard her humming in tune to the fire engines that would pass the house. At three years old, Agina was singing along with Whitney Houston on the radio and her mother’s clients in the living room. At five she confidently hit the talent contest circuit.

At 8 she performed on Sabado Gigante. At 9 she won Showtime at the Apollo, the long running TV showcase program and was accepted into Jackie Jackson’s (one of the Jackson 5) “Tomorrow Starts Today entertainment boot camp. She also appeared on the Sally Jesse Raphael Show, the Jerry Lewis Telethon and Ed McMahon’s Next Big Star.

In her teens, Agina performed all over the country with her high school choir and in professional musical productions, such as the prestigious Doolittle Theatre’s SELENA, A MUSICAL CELEBRATION OF LIFE. She also dabbled in television where she has had recurring roles on the Brothers Garcia, Crossing Jordan and the Young and The Restless.

But it is music that gives Agina the most satisfaction and it’s where she is devoting all her energies. Even as she has recorded a new album and has hit the road to promote the first single, she continues to study jazz piano theory and develop her voice.

Sobre “Somos Mar y Arena”:

Este es el primer sencillo promocional de su álbum debut (2009) bajo el sello de Ruthless Records. El álbum es completamente en español y fue producido en su totalidad por José Quintana.

Cuando legendario productor ganador del Grammy José Quintana (Maná, Juan Gabriel, Vicki Carr) le mostró los demos de Agina al guitarrista Sergio Vallín de Mana, Vallín se enamoró del sonido y le sugirió grabara su canción. Del mismo modo Sergio contribuyó guitarra y coros a la canción y dijo: "de todos los músicos que he conocido en el mundo, Agina me ha impresiono por su tono de voz, humildad y sencillez." La admiración es mutua, dice Agina, "Sergio es tan humilde, dulce y tiene tanto talento, sin lugar a dudas uno de mis músicos favoritos".

Sobre Agina:

Agina es una niña de 19 años, nacida y criada en el sur de California dentro de una familia méxico-americana. A muy temprana edad Agina se mudó de San Diego y ha vivido en el condado de Riverside / San Bernardino y Los Angeles con su familia desde entonces.

La mama de Agina es maestra de canto y piano y se dio cuenta de que su niña seguiría sus pasos en el negocio familiar cuando la escuchó tarareando al son de los camiones de bomberos que pasaban por su casa. A los 3 años de edad, Agina cantaba las canciones de Whitney Houston y junto a los clientes de su mama.

A las 8 años Agina se presento en Sábado Gigante y a los 9 fue la ganadora de de Showtime at the Apollo. También apareció en el Sally Jesse Rafael Show, el Teletón de Jerry Lewis y en Next Big Star de Ed McMahon.

En su adolescencia Agina, estuvo de gira por todo el país con el coro de su colegio siendo parte de varias producciones musicales tales como el prestigioso Doolittle Theatre’s SELENA, A MUSICAL CELEBRATION OF LIFE y hasta ha plantado sus primeros pinitos en la televisión nacional con varios papeles recurrentes en los Hermanos García, Crossing Jordan y en The Young and The Restless.

Pero la música es su verdadera satisfacción y es donde hoy en dia concentra todas sus energías. Aun cuando habiendo grabado un nuevo álbum y estando viajando para promocionar el mismo, Agina sigue estudiando para desarrollar su voz.
