Influences
Jesus, it has to be Jesus. I listen a wide range of muisc, but mainly alternative and gospel. My alternative/Indie influences are Delirious who rock, Sonic Flood, the Newsboys, Barlowgirl, Robin Mark, Chris Tomlin, Rebecca St. James and Matt Redman (okay not so alternative), Jeremy Camp (amazing), Mowglee, . The gospel artists, Fred Hammond, Kirk Franklin (wow), Cece Winans, Isreal Houghton, Take 6, Donnie McClurkin. Also lover of Ella Fitzgerald, Billy Holiday, Green Day and Britney (okay not Britney, but I do like Michael Jackson (especially the old stuff).
Alternative and soul singer, (and you're like yeah right). I grew up in the States and during that time I was surrounded by alternative rock for the first time, it was hard for me to admit I liked that kind of music because I tried to represent (I was the only black girl in my class and my sister and I were the entire black population). I started listening to groups like the verve pipe, third eye blind, fastball and of course Green Day at the same time listening to Monica, Tony Braxton, Babyface, BoyzIIMen, and Mariya Carey. I guess because I was influsenced by these groups that I cannot write songs that are purely one or the other. The great thing is a like a lot different types of music and I can hold my own as a back up singer, the bad thing is a like a lot of different types of music and I need to lead people in worship and not go off on my own artist tangent.
Anyway, I would love to hear from anyone and everyone, where you are a musician, singer, writer, or you like a lot people love music. I should have some tracks up in a couple of months and when I do please let me know what you think okay?
