I come from Poland, live in Finland. I have travelled to other places in the meantime and music followed me wherever I went, or I followed music.
In autumn 2008, I decided to become serious about my music. I had written songs and played in pubs and for friends for quite some time but it was not enough. So I decided to put all my energy into music and see where it takes me and try to start making my living out of it.
I made the first proper recordings of my songs. I put three of them on SellaBand.com, a music site where fans can help artists collect funds for a professional album. The support and interest of my new fans there, some of whom are music professionals, convinced me further that I made the right decision and that yes, it made sense to be serious about what I really love and am best at instead of later regretting that I lacked the courage to go for it.
More good things have happened since then. My songs have got airplay on a few radio stations; I have started collaborating with other musicians and found nice gigging opportunities.
I keep writing and recording more songs, keep playing and arranging more gigs and keep a profile on SellaBand where I am raising a budget for a professional album: www.sellaband.com/agnieszkaholm. I am at the moment over 12% in budget and No. 27!! out of over 4 thousand artists registered on SellaBand. If you would like to help me, and receive a copy of my album in the future, you can do it by registering on SellaBand and buying a share for 10$ (or more if you like, and then you can have more copies of my album). If you change your mind, you can withdraw your money any time. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions about SellaBand!
I also help out at a voluntary radio project that promotes independent music from SellaBand; you can check it out here:
Reviews:
In a world of sound-alike music, Catself is producing unique songs that don't always go where you might expect, and that's a very good thing. The fact she can do so with the result being memorable and capable of repeated listening is the sign of a rare talent. Sure would be nice to have a full Sellaband CD of her work! - Michael Hunter, music journalist and radio host
Admirably fierce, uncompromising, intelligent, deep, radiant & with generosity of spirit. Listen to everything she does & watch her blossom & bloom. - Ariel, musician
Catself has music as interesting and unique as her name is. Her music reminds me of a nouveau-celtic sound. Her guitar style is clean and soothing. Her voice fit her unique style of music quite nicely. Have a listen. - Clive Barratt, musician
Wow, a blast of fresh air, energy, intelligence, and musicality to spare. Agnieszka is clearly worthy of your attention. I'm impressed. - Ray Baisden, believer on SellaBand
The honesty in her music is so compelling it makes you want to follow her. Beautiful, light and somehow sensual. - Jacomo Williams, believer on SellaBand
Great songs, beautiful voice, such a talented lady: Poland..s gift to Finland..s music world!!! - Ossi Tikkanen, believer on SellaBand
I like it when an artist makes original music. Sadly, the music of most artists who try to be original is not nice to listen to any more. Catself has the ability to make music that is both very original and nice to listen to. That was my first thought when I listened to her music for the first time and I still love listening to it months later. The lyrics are also original but what is the most important for me is Catself's original and catchy melodies, arrangements and voice. I am sure that also listeners who are normally more into the mainstream kind of sound will enjoy her songs. - Johan Jongerius, founder of TalentCast
After ignoring sellaband for some months, I stumbled somehow onto Catself. Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic. It's different from everything, and it's good. Really good. I can barely wait for her to reach 50k.- Minus (Rosy), believer on SellaBand
Hiya Cat, how are you beautiful? Just wanted to wish you good luck and great show for the 8th. The audience is in for a real treat, I'm jealous.
