About me:

Gary Guy AKA A Guy Called Gary of the legendary Guidance Recordings in Chicago. Gary managed A & R for several prominent Guidance compilations including; Hi Fidelity Lounge Volumes 3 & 4, Hi Fidelity Dub Sessions Volume 3 & 4, , as well as, Mundial Muzique Volume 2 and Stargazing. These collections featured the most prominent artists of Downbeat & Dub music including; Tosca, DJ Krush, Quantic, Thievery Corporation, Boozoo Bajou, Groove Armada, Bonobo, Smith & Mighty, Stereotyp, Ralph Myerz & The Jack Herren Band, Cottonbelly, Alex Cortiz, Zeb and Organic Grooves, among many others. Gary also handled A & R for international Guidance recording artists; The Dining Rooms, Flunk and Caia. A Guy Called Gary has performed alongside such "Downbeat" luminaries as DJ Cam, Nu Spirit Helsinki, DJ Oil of Troublemakers and Blue States. Over the years, Gary Guy has held residencies or performed at Sonotheque, Funky Buddha Lounge, The Dark Room, Sushi Wabi, Get Me High Lounge & the infamous Smart Bar, among other Chicago venues. A Guy Called Gary also headlined the official after-party for the Chicago Independent Film Festival and maintained a DJ residency at Concepto in Yucatan, Mexico. Gary Guy currently spins Thursdays at the Midtown Grill in Indianapolis.
