"Do not judge this album by its cover. It looks like possibly some world beat mystical thing, but the tones and vocals that flow out are tinged with a light Peter Murphy glow—post-Bauhaus, solo-style Murphy. Possibly some of that worldly beat comes in with a Dead Can Dance whisper, but the songs seem to be tied to a solid emotional pop base; a little British sounding, slipping on the David Bowie and Morrissey reference points, although Ahmond remains Brooklyn based. You could moot this album in with all the other entries into “indie folk,” but I think there is too much maturity and sophistication here for that. It’s deeper, darker, and smoother, and it is full of an innocent wisdom."
- Big Takeover Magazine
"Brooklyn singer Ahmond blends lush guitar, strings, simple melodies and African rhythm on this chamber-pop album. "Everything Eden" reminds me of the Magnetic Fields in a way (perhaps the drama of the strings) while the catchy "Go to Africa" calls to mind Paul Simon or Toto."
- WLUR FM
"Ahmond has a musical foot in the world inhabited by the likes of New Bohemians, Cat Power, and the Crash Test Dummies. But where those bands seem desperate to prove they were too cool to care, Ahmond has a humanity and emotion in his delivery that would make them all sneer...high expectations for what he comes up with next."
- VINTAGE GUITAR MAGAZINE
"...it reaches parts you never thought it could, parts that most music just doesn't manage to touch..."
- PLAYLOUDER
"One should definitely listen to Ahmond from start to finish..."
- KNOCKS FROM THE UNDERGROUND
"...A striking debut...leaves you hungry for more."
- MUZIKREVIEWS.COM
"There is fluidity in his voice that makes listening to his music very relaxing and captivating."
- EXMOGUL MUSIC
"He has a lush musical landscape to support his androgynous vocals...Ahmond's style is really unique and he deserves to be heard by many."
- LUNA KAFE
"This is a thoughtful, soulful CD with many standout tracks."
Hey there Ahmond - have really enjoyed spending the afternoon with your tunes keeping me company. Love your vocals and Morrissey-esque soundscapes. Would be cool to see you live sometime. Btw, if you're interested, have uploaded a few new songs of my own. Hope you enjoy them. Hooroo.
Amazing toons my friend. I would never have guessed you were from brooklyn from your singing voice. You've got a touch of the Nick Drkes about your voice and songwrting style which is the biggest compliment I could ever give anyone as he is my favourite singer/songwriter ever.
I've heard some of the new songs in your site. Great songs and wonderful arrangements. But most of all I love the voice, not only because it's a very beautiful voice but because it displays your feelings. It's rare to find artists like you. Honoured to be your friend, Claudio.
Where the hell have you been? If you're ever in LA you need to come by our studio and write something eternal with us! The Coastal Cowboys are now official fans! And if you haven't already, you need to check out www.billnelson.com. You are a true artist, dude. Thanks for the add! We are truly honored! Flint & Squint
Fellow Kate Bush fan indeed! I'm re-reading a biography I have about her at the moment, actually, so been doing plenty of listening therein ;) Nice tunes you have here, my friend, definitely "a bit different" (yes, that's a pretty big complement in this day and age) from the norm, nice work indeed!!
