Okay, okay. The Barenaked Ladies rock my world. And Joan Osborne, especially her album How Sweet It Is. Mark Knopfler is a great lyricist. Travis out of Glasgow gets me, and it's possible I'm in love with Jason Mraz's vocal cords.
That's today. Tomorrow my answer will be different. | | Movies | Chinatown, Bull Durham, Casablanca, Paris Je t'Aime, Rear Window, Harold and Maude, Charade, Some Like it Hot, Garden State | | Television | Dodgers/Angels/Royals games and an embarrassing amount of Food Network. I'm no longer willing to watch regular shows. I'm cursed. Everything I love gets canceled. Come on. Sports Night? Sports Night was freaking brilliant. And what happened? | | Books | Dorothy Parker - "The Waltz" is brilliantly, perfectly, hysterically wonderful; Raymond Chandler - everyone who writes about Los Angeles owes him a debt; Salman Rushdie - even on his worst day, he's incredible; Rex Stout - keep your Agatha Christie, Rex Stout wrote the best classic mysteries; David Sedaris - genius humorist; Dennis Lehane - no one is doing noir better right now; Luis Alberto Urrea - the next Rushdie?
And all of my L.A. writer friends. The talent oozing out of this city right now is humbling. | | Heroes | Anyone who can master irregular French verbs. |
