Our youth competition team traveled to NJ on 11/9/08 for the North American Grappling Championship sponsored by NAGA. All of our competitors placed in the event! Congratulations to all!

Kettlebell Certification Course
Aiki Academy will be hosting a Kettlebell Certification course on Thursday 1/15/09 and Friday 1/16/09 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Participants will be instructed in core kettlebell lifts and their variations, how to teach proper form and technique, how to design a kettlebell program for any fitness goal, sample curriculums for classes, how to begin a kettlebell program, ongoing support via email and phone and much more. Class is limited to 10 people. The cost is $1,000 due in full upon registration. We accept all major credit cards. Please call Dennis Hill at 203-484-2020 for more information.
Aiki Academy Hosts First Kettlebell Certification
Aiki Academy hosted it's first 2 day kettlebell certification course on Thursday September 26th and Friday September 27th. Congratulations to Andy Washeim, CPT from Redding, CT and Joseph Ferrari, CPT from Somers, NY who passed both the physical and written exam and are now certified in Kettlebells through our New England Kettlebell Association, LLC.
Aiki Academy is hosting club visits with other grappling academies. The first academy that will be visiting us will be Asian Martial Arts in Stratford, CT. More information to come. If your school is interested in training with us, please give Dennis Hill a call at 203-484-2020.

Aiki Academy of Self Defense, LLC hosted a BJJ seminar with Fabiano Telles and
Rob Magao. We learned some CRAZY techniques and had some fun too.
Most of us here at AIKI are into mixed matial arts, MMA, UFC, PrideFC, crossfit fitness training using Russian kettlebells, Muay Thai, Kick boxing, SAMBO, BJJ and Hapkido.

Combat SAMBO - Originating in Russia (former USSR) in 1938 as a hand-to-hand combat method for soldiers, Literally, SAMBO is an acronym for "Self defense without weapons", (Som-oborona Bes Orusyia). Combat SAMBO involves throws, takedowns, striking techniques, weapons & removal... This is "Combat SAMBO" !. Over the years SAMBO has developed into a sport of world structure, having been recognized as such in 1968 by the International Amateur Wrestling Federation. SAMBO was classified as the third wrestling discipline alongside Freestyle & Greco Roman. Sport SAMBO involves throws, takedowns, groundwork & submissions... This is "Sport SAMBO"!
