AIRGED LAMH is a heavy metal band based in Athens. Originally formed under the name"RAGNAROK"and musically moving in epic/folk/celtic fields even with the lyrics based on ancient legends of battles from all around the world..The band started writing songs,but because of two other(internationally known)bands having the same name,had to rename and progress.
The decision was .."AIRGED LAMH".(This is Gaelic , in plain English it means "The Silver Arm").
In early 1996 the band enters the studio to record their very first demo,after having played several gigs in local clubs,and nearly becoming a legend of the Greek epic metal scene .The result was stunning.. "A VERTIGO EDDA ARISED" as it was finally called,consisted of 5 songs lyrically based on Northern Europe's mythology .
The band sold over 400 copies of the demo within the first week of its release and got numerous triumphant reviews on local and global press for this effort . Due to the emotional power and strength contained a huge impact was unleashed that made the band respectful to everyone. Many gigs followed on and after a time of necessary changes for the completion of the line-up,the band felt confident enough for the recording of its debut album. In the meantime,had already signed a contract with "Metal Reunion Records" and"A VERTIGO EDDA ARISED",was re-released in 2002(..as"ONE EYED GOD"...)this time,containing 2 new songs(promo recordings) with the current line-up.
Finally in autumn 2003,the band enters the studio to record "THE SILVER ARM",as the album was finally entitled..
The album is a concept story based on an ancient Celtic legend with the tribe of TUATHA DE DANNAN and the silver arm of king NUADA,deeply influenced by JIM FITZPATRICKS writing.
A new contract with"Black lotus Records"was signed and after several gigs that followed on with acts such as FIREWIND,OMEN,HELSTAR
and live performances at SWORDBROTHERS festival as well as other gigs in Germany,Italy,Belgium,The Netherlands and Ireland with tourmates BATTLEROAR,the band entered the studio and recorded the heir of "THE SILVER ARM"..."ODE TO SALVATION"(Released By Eat Metal Records).Plenty of live activities followed on as the band took part at the famous UP THE HAMMERS III Festival along with MANILLA ROAD,CAGE,STORMWARRIOR etc and completed it's succesfull course by appearing at the FULL METAL RACKET FEST (U.K),sharing the stage with PARADISE LOST,ROTTING CHRIST and GRIM REAPER..Through the official site(www.airgedlamh.com),our Email adress(airgedlamh@airgedlamh.com)or the current page,contact us for any further details.
