"I have always believed that the Great Creator had a great design for my people, the Cherokees. I have been taught that from my childhood up and now in my mature manhood I recognize it as a great truth. Our forces have been dissipated by the external forces, perhaps it has been just a training, but we must now get together as a race and render our contribution to mankind. We are endowed with intelligence, we are industrious, we are loyal and we are spiritual but we are overlooking the Cherokee mission on earth, for no man nor race is endowed with these qualifications without a designed purpose... Our Mixed-bloods should not be overlooked in this program of a racial awakening. Our pride in our ancestral heritage is our great incentive for handing something worth while to our posterity. It is this pride in ancestry that makes men strong and loyal for their principal in life. It is this same pride that makes men give up their all for their Government." -- Redbird Smith, stated in early 1900. About me:

Hi we are cool good hearted people, my ancestor are Norse Vikings/Pits/Scottish/Irish/Cherokee. My Tsalvgi blood comes from Ephraim Sizemore Roll Number 5429, Ned Sizemore Roll Number 4451, 1896 Dawes Commission Index. George All Sizemore, Rhonda Sizemore, Russel Ruck Sizemore and Cherokee/Creek from Aggie Shepard. Carmi is Irish/German/Blackfoot. When not working we spend allot of time in the woods hiking off trail to waterfalls or caving, camping, traditional things. Always been a spiritual traditional person trying to find my way back to my ancestor's... My dad's people are from north of Hyden, KY. and Dryhill by Hell for Certain creek My great grandfather Felix T Begley was a very successful herbal medicine doctor in his time. He was a veteran of the Mounted Infantry in the Civil War, and fought in many important battles. He was with the army that drove John Morgans Raiders out of Kentucky. His wife Fannie Martin was a very good midwife delivering 935 babies 9 of her own. About 28 March 1878: my great grandfather "Felix Begley tells that old Aggie Sizemore, the wife of "Old George of All", used to roast terrapins alive and kept many traditions as the Cherokee used to do. Other things he told that I am sure she was a Cherokee instead of Sizemore. An interview with my great grandfather Felix T. Begley, Bull Creek, Kentucky, March 27, 1898: "Old George "All" was a prize fighter. He wounded William Twitty in a fight, so that he died. Sizemore nursed Twitty and would cry and tell him he had nothing against him. All he asked of him was to fight him again if he got well. He is half or more Indian.. (Polly North, 85 years old, whose mother was Rhoda Sizemore and had Russel Ruck Sizemore, says they came from New River)... The Begley family came to America in 1635. The Begley Family is thought to have been "transported from Ireland to England from the Tullbegle y, Donegal, Ireland Area to help break up their family relationship to the Donell Clan, and thus allow the British better control of the area. Others say that they may have been brought over to England as hired soldiers! Ore that they came to England aspart of the escort for "Mary Que en of Scotts" and this sounds probable for it is well known that the Begleys along with the Sweenys fought extensivelly under the leadership of "?Bruces" both in Ireland and in Scotland after the Clan Chiefs and their families fled Ireland from Europe, and they were well known for their bravery and fighting ability." So it seems rather certain that the Queen of Scotts, would have some of them in her escort!. Even today, in Ireland, where you find Sweenys, you also find Begleys, and visa versa.... Breanndán Begley who still lives in Donegal Co. "Yeah, there are Mc Sweeney's and Begleys in Munster and what I heard is that they originally came from Donegal. They came south to fight in the Battle of Kinsale in I think 1601 and some of them stayed in Munster. Begley thanslates to Beaglaoich. Beag=small or little,Laoch =warrior. So it means small warrior. Crowley on the other hand means Crua=hard/Laoch=warrior". Slán, Breanndán Ó Beaglaoich.... Photobucket My mom's people the Morrison's are Norse/Scotts/Picts and they came from the Isle of Lewis in Scotland a Highland clan, chiefly originating from the Western Isles. The Outer Hebrides or Western Isles (officially known by their Gaelic name, Na h-Eileanan Siar) comprise an island chain off the west coast of Scotland. They form part of the Hebrides, separated from the Scottish mainland and from the Inner Hebrides by the stormy stretch of water known as the Minch and the Little Minch. A clan is a group of people united by kinship and descent, which is defined by perceived descent from a common ancestor. The Western Isles are an archipelago in Scotland. The Morrison's are desended from Olav the Black Standing stones on the Isle Of Lewis, Construction of the site took place between 2900 and 2600 BC, though there were possibly earlier buildings before 3000 BC. A tomb was later built into the site. Debris from the destruction of the tomb suggests the site was out of use between 2000 BC and 1700 BC.[1] The 13 primary stones form a circle about 13 m in diameter, with a long approach avenue of stones to the north, and shorter stone rows to the east, south, and west .. nature In 1226 the Norse Viking Olav the Black became King of Man and the Isles. Eight centuries ago a Norse ship struggled in heavy seas off the Scottish island of Lewis. A proud Kintyre noblewoman named Lauon stood on deck cradling her newborn I infant son, Gillemorrie, in her arms while her husband, Olaf the Black, shouted orders to the crew. Despite his Herculean efforts the ship foundered. Olav, Lauon and their son plunged into the frigid waters and clung to a piece of driftwood near their sinking vessel. Fortune smiled upon the stoic trio, and they were deposited safe but wet upon the stony Lewis shore. Lauon had married Olaf in 1214 and bore him one child (Gillemorrie). The fact that she was a cousin german to Olafs first wife was unacceptable to the church. Bishop Reginald of the Isles declared their relationship incestuous, nullified the marriage and branded her son illegitimate. It was from this marriage that the Clan of Morrison thus sprang and how driftwood became their badge." Gillemorrie, upon achieving manhood, married the last heiress of the Clan Igaa (also known as the Clan Gow). She held the stronghold of Pabbay Castle near the island of Harris as her birthright. It was from this union that the Clan Morrison sprang. Two distinct branches evolved - the Morrisons of Harris and the Morrisons of Lewis. The Morrisons of Lewis established a fortress named Dun Eistein on the northern tip of the island. They gave rise to ten generations of brieves (hereditary judges) which held sway over the area until 1613. This branch of the family vanished from the pages of history following the issuance of letters of fire and sword on 28 August 1616. Olav the Black His third wife, Christiana (daughter of Ferquhar, Earl of Ross), gave birth to Leod, the progenitor of the Clan McLeod. The Morrisons of Harris became the hereditary armourers of the McLeods. Photobucket Sif Norse Samuel Morrison and Marcy Mayse. The father of Samuel Morrison, John Morrison was born 27 AUG 1667 in Isle of Lewis, and emigrated to Ireland about the time of the siege of Londonderry. He was slain there with several members of his family in a conflict between the Scottish Presbyterians and the Roman Catholic Irish. Of John Morrison's sons, at least two came to America: Ephraim and Samuel. Samuel Morrison was born in Stewartstown, Tyrone County, Ireland, on January 5, 1701. He married Mercy Mayse, who was also born in Stewartstown in 1716 - her parents were both Scots. Samuel and Marcy Morrison emigrated to America in 1740, sailing on the ship "Sally of Coleraine". Samuel was a very large and powerful man. He was over six feet tall, and weighed over 250 pounds. He was also involved in a struggle between the Irish and the Protestant Scots. He told this story to his grandson, John Morrison: Seven furious Irishmen attacked him and his only weapon of defense was a pitchfork. He thrust this pitchfork into the assailant in the front of the pack and threw him over a stone wall. The others, after seeing this, fled.... A History of Thomas Morrison Indiana State Library,, This is narrated by his son Samuel My Grandfather Samuel Morrison had one daughter and six sons. five of whom were in the Revolution. My father , Ephraim Morrison, was born in Bucks Co. Pa. june 5, 1758. He Served as a private in the revolutionary War and was wounded at Brandywine on the 11th of Sept. 1777. He narrowly escaped being massacared at Paoli. There 53 woulded soldiers were in a barn. The British slipped up on them on the 20th of Sept. 1777 and killed them in cold blood. My father slipped away. Just below the mouth of Hogan Creek he found an abandoned Indian cabin with no roof or floor. It was 16 ft. square and hade 3 or 4 acres cleared around it . My father and my eldest brother repaired it and they in on Valentine's day Feb. 14 1796 Ephraim Jr. was born there on March 1st 1798 the first white child born in that territory west of the Ohio, I believe. History says that Ephraim Morrison built the first cabin and cut away trees on the banks of the Ohio just above Hogan's creek where Aurora now stands. My father Ephraim assisted Col. Benjamin Chambers in surveying the area. Col. Benjamin Chambers was the first cousin to Mrs. Morrison He was a Presbyterian and he was a great hunter. There were lots of Indains around at that time I remember seeing Blue Jacket......
