Aja-Monet is a Cuban-Jamaican poet originally from East NY, Brooklyn, residing in Chicago, IL. At 22 years old, she is currently the youngest Grand Slam Champion of the Lower East side's legendary Nuyorican Poet's Café. Her work is classically surrealist, engaging altogether Hip Hop, Soul, and literary audiences. She dedicates her time and energy working with inner-city adolescence, providing performance poetry workshops and opportunities. Aja-Monet received her B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College and is currently working on her MFA in Writing at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Some of us call ourselves Christian & act worse than heathens, going to clubs, cohabiting, fornicating, wearing clothes where body parts are exposed, or no underclothes, gossiping, speaking filthiness, disrespectful, etc., my people, please don’t be deceived, GOD is not mocked whatsoever you sow, you shall reap, why reap up wickedness, when the Word of God clearly details how to live a lifestyle that is pleasing to our FATHERS Sight. HOLY SPIRIT, our Guide, instruct, direct, order our motives, desires & communication to the Divine Purpose our Father Created us for, we don’t want others to miss out on the Goodness of God, on the count of our defiance to the Truth, do a work in us that we cant do ourselves, conform us & keep our focus on Jesus Christ, not our earthly circumstances, which are but for a moment, when trouble, confusion, temptation & sorrow comes, direct us to obey & praise our Father in Heaven, where our Help comes from. Father God let Your Will reign in our hearts, minds & souls, so You may get the glory.
