Manchester based - UK born - alternative Hip Hop band 'Ajah' fuse sounds from different genres of music such as reggae, funk and rock to create a dynamic variety of different flavours and tastes, detonating the stage with their high-energy, high-octane live performances. Ajah's unique style is lead by the percussive power of language, flowing together lyrical sounds in both Bangla and English. Ajah navigate the audience through their experiences of perception, local national & international identities, gender & sexuality, poverty, caste & class. The music and the words have a symbiotic relationship creating & conveying Hip Hop folk tales. Ajah’s performance and imagery challenge and disrupt people’s notions, broadening people’s experiences of what we see, hear and know.
Ajah have performed around the UK hitting stages at Kings Place London, Matt & Freds Manchester and the various summer Mela's (Manchester/Blackburn/Rossendale). Ajah have supported The Hypnotic Brass Ensamble and Mercury prize winner Speech Debelle.
