______Initial Stage of the Music:_______
Ajaniah started as a disc jockey (DJ) on a sound system in the streets of Maypen Clarendon spinning on Friday evenings. This was used as relaxation from the hectic studying while attending Clarendon College (between 2nd and 4th forms. He honed is skills by chanting over Part 2 of vinyl records.
Ajaniah had been trying to suppress the music within himself for over 20 years. Due to his involvement in the academic arena, mainly: University of the West Indies (U.W.I.), Mona, University of Technology (UTech) and the Jamaica Constabulary Staff College (J.C.S.C.)
Note*** Ajaniah holds a Masters degree in Mathematics and Physics
Finally the build-up of musical energies started to be converted to sound. Hence a new form of music was created, Real Roots.
Real Roots is a Band of six (6) members each playing musical instruments and singing, while focusing on the elements of truth. " We see righteousness as a function of truth. So help me God, as of now, and thereafter the essence of our music is truth, hence righteousness. And hence now and forever we as a people can live in peace, love and unity.
Like many other musical groups trying to survive, as a result of changing group members, we still continue to create and thus make original music without relying on electronic drum machines. Real Roots will always represent a live form. If there are no roots, then there can be no branches.
Ajaniah and Real Roots are inseparable.
______Mentors/ Heroes in the Music:______
Ajaniah's main mentors were: first and foremost the Legend Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Burning Spear, Lucky Dube and Jacob Miller
The messages in my music were inspired by great black leaders, some of which were: Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Marcus Garvey and Nelson Mandela. Inspiration also came from the observation of the lives of suffering people, and the love for women (The Empress)
