My greatest inspirations would have to be baby face, because he made his own dreams work for himself and opened the doors for music entrepreneurs, he made his dreams his realtiy. Black Tye "aka" Tyrese is another one of my influences, he has made himself a player in every part of the entertainment industry. Oh, Glen Lewis, amazing he has flawless vocal abilities, who will always be a player in the game and can come back anytime he wants, still bringing something fresh. Genuine would also have to be on my list , because of his stage presence. He can captivate an audience with no effort. And what would an inspiration list be without Jon B. He has a great sense of direction, lyric wise and takes songs in directions un-expected, amazing. My boy Lloyd has to be apart of this too, the man is smooth , when other artists hear him, they will want to go to the booth and just free style a whole song. Marques Huston and Omarion will inspire anybody, when you see young players leaving a mark in the industry, it makes you want to step up your game. Ray-J and Brandy are vocal beasts. I learn something new from them every time i here their records. Tank has so much talent, the best voice with the silky vibe. Any song he makes sounds good. Bobby V has a great stile of music production and vacal arrangements. Usher is someone that brings fire to every record, he allows you to see other places to take the song, where you may not have seen before. A new one to the team, Chris Brown, a young talented kat who shows amzing stage performance. Oh oh, Music Soul Child, damn his style is just out there, i can’t even explain, he is just smooth with his vocals. The Underdogs, incredible, always bringing fresh music to the industry. Last but not least, Russel Simmons, creator of Def Jam and phat farm. This man has helped hip hop become what it is today. He built his own empire, how could you not be inspired. When it comes down to being inspired, you always have to look up to somebody that has qualities that you have and trades that you can learn in order to be where they are. Remember you are not born with success, you fight for it.
Abner Juda Gil was born on July 5, 1984 in San Diego CA. He was the forth out of ten siblings born to Martin and Teresa Gil. Even at a very young age, AJ Gil “Juda” exhibited a talent and flair for music, while performing and singing for his fathers’ church.
At the tender age of four, Juda’s family moved to Mexico. Struggling from many hardships and living in poverty, he would help his family make ends meet by selling food on the street or offering labor work to the higher class. His way of living did not discourage this true musician. While still in his early stages of development Juda’s Latin heritage began to expand and mature.
His passion so deep, by age seven Juda taught himself how to play the drums and guitar. While perfecting his skills he utilized pots, pans and buckets for drum sets and an old guitar to learn the cords; soon after he found interest in the piano. Today he has mastered these three instruments and incorporates them into his music. Both his Spanish and American roots are embedded in all if his projects.
Juda’s family relocated once again, upon moving from Mexico, his family continued to struggle. They lived out of their van for several months. When Mr. and Mrs. Gil secured enough money, they finally settled in Tacoma, Washington. This is where AJ spent the remainder of his childhood years. While attending Lincoln High School, Juda was a part of the choir and many talent shows.
It was at the age of 17 when his mother brought to his attention an audition that was being held for the highly anticipated first season of American Idol. Juda decided to put his vocal skills to the test and was successful. His note worthy performance piece was “The National Anthem”. AJ Gil was instantly named a Latin heartthrob. Simon called A.J. “A worthy contestant”.
His vocal styles and personality led him into the top 8 finalist of American Idol, generating over 300,000 votes.
This American Idol still receives 1,500 hits a day at his website www.ajgil.com. After the Idol Tour in 2002, Juda made the decision to take some time off to focus on singing and songwriting. Studying a wide range of well-known artist such as Babyface, Brian McKnight, Music Soulchild, and Usher, his musical ability was ripened. With the guitar becoming his primary instrument and piano his secondary, AJ Gil was transforming into a fully developed artist.
When asked, what is your inspiration for pursuing a singing career? Juda’s answer is “to be able to care and provide for my family, then to simply inspire the public by allowing them to enjoy quality music.
In September of 2005, Juda decided to make a career adjustment and moved to Los Angeles, California. His new musical endeavors are complimented by working with The Order; a new production team based in Hollywood, CA whose credits range from Jojo, Toni Braxton, and American Idol Ruben Studard.
“Juda is Latin-America’s best kept secret, a real find”, says a label representative. His songs are relationship supporting, dance floor enhancing, and cruise soothing. Juda’s enhanced vocals, instrumental skills and creative writing abilities are the driving force in his new material.
With the title “The first Mexican-American, true R&B sensation”, we invite you to experience Juda.
