Yes I am a poet, as if the world needed another, right? Well, as you will discover (if you haven't already), I am good at this craft. I like to type on the computer or typewriter when I write (whatever meets my mood at the time). I am honest and to the point, meaning I am not afraid to say what I think. I like walks in the park and late night phone conversations. I like to read Bukowski when I take a shit on the toilet and Rilke when it rains. I think that Snyder is brilliant. I know that there is a God, but I have serious doubts about organized Christian religion. I am a Pisces, which means I am moody, emotional and sensitive. I like to drink vodka in the afternoon, but don't call me a fucking drunk, because I can out drink any of you little shits. I am not athletic, but I exercise occasionally. I am a vegetarian. I write to get this loud voice of poetry out of me and into words. Please... only the serious should read on. I am not interested in the boring, mundane, average or the needy. I am not attempting to be a hero, nor am I a role model. I am just a poet with an honest voice. I am awaiting your reaction to my poetry.
My Current Projects:
I am working on a new poetry book "Disarming The Atom Bomb" and also working on a book of short stories. More will be announced soon.
A Slip Of The Tongue is a book of poetry written during a three year period (2004-2007). The author, AJ Lewis, relates his life, his thoughts and his past memories through written words at the seat of an old silk ribbon typewriter in the Arizona desert. As you read this book you will experience a world take shape as AJ Lewis addresses spirituality, religion, family and relationships. These poems were written to express an interpretation of the current state of affairs in our society, and AJ Lewis brings forth his past memories in an effort to share his opinions. There is only honesty in this book, and like the title suggests, nothing is held back here.
The Journey Of The Spirit is a collection of poetry and artwork by A. J. Lewis. It is a striking translation of the connection that we all share with the Earth. Each poem is a journey into the spirit, and the artwork is a captured moment of this journey. The sun will rise and set in this book; clouds will form and reform; rain will break through the sky and the wind will pass through the trees; and as you read this book, you will be taken through the author’s life and your own. A. J. Lewis has brought forth his imagination and has let the Earth around him touch his most inner workings, and as you will find out, the Earth around you is not so far off after all.

Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.
