Born in Clarendon, Jamaica, Akademiks moved to the US at the age of 13 years old and lived in Hackensack, NJ. His true love of music started in reggae and transcended genres to Hip Hop & R&B. At Rutgers University in New Jersey in his freshman year, he was introduced to a true passion of him which was expressing himself through music. Influenced by hip hop music, he ventured into music producing to create beats. With help from a few of his friends he was quickly put into the producing game and he worked eagerly studying various musical genres to find samples and inspirations for his beats. The genres he studied varied from soul, Jazz to even R&B. With plans of soon collaborating with other producers and producing beats for local rappers Akademiks is working his way up the ladder and earning credibility for the talent he has and earning respect as he goes on.
