Formed in Hampshire UK 2006, this five piece (originally four piece) band came together and wrote, recorded and released their first demo in June 2006. Since then they have played a countless amount of shows in the UK with bands including Cilice (nl), Tesseract, No Made Sense and Pure Negative. After many months of shows and writing the band started work on their Debut EP entitled 'Virtues', which was Self-Released in February 2009, along with a Promotional Music Video of the track 'Resistance'.
Although as busy as they are, they had many line up changes with bass players and second guitarists. In November 2007 the line up was finally complete with members Russ Weller(vocals), Alex Loader(guitar), Jon Hughes(guitar), Rob Houghton(bass) and Paul Roebuck(drums). Coming straight from the shadows of Portsmouth, with solid beats, thrashing guitars and crushing vocals. They are Akakios!
Their name taken from ancient Greek meaning "Innocent, Not Evil", combined with kakn (kake) meaning "evil", Akakios is a negative prefix. Showing that even though as evil as they may seem, they, are not!
Akakios's musical material, music videos, album art, and web designs are all created, produced and released by the band themselves.

"Akakios are at the forefront of the evergrowing metal scene in Portsmouth. Displaying fine technical ability with strong songwriting, the band also delivers an excellent powerful live set. Their latest EP/DVD shows particular professionalism in its production, showing that the band are serious in what they do and it should only be a matter of time before they go on to greater things....." - Thrashman (93.7ExpressFM)
"Bringing a taster of the Portsmouth metal scene with them. Quiet they were not, and the music was certainly imposing. The vocals were piercing and they created a storm of music throughout the building which ensured that everyone knew that they were playing! A good set to introduce themselves further to the crowd" - Catherine Jackson (The Lounge Bar)
"Think Lamb of God meets Unearth! They have such amazing energy onstage that is rare to find in local unsigned bands... {in my eyes} These guys are a must see." - Kee-Jane Photograpahy
"Akakios from Portsmouth played unrelenting metal, driving waves of guitar-driven sounds into the crowd. Technically perfect and brutal enough to satisfy the hardest heart." - Neil Duncan (Gazette)
"They have gigged here before and were greeted with, "Oooh, that’s the Akakios boys," as they walked in, so their reputation certainly preceded them. This can be a double-edged sword because they have expectations to live up to after that, but the boys did well. Despite their innocent exteriors, they are brutal once playing. Their intense and brutal style endeared them to the most hardcore members of the crowd and instantaneously started a pit which continued for most of their songs. Watch out for their next gig, they’ve become a staple favourite amongst many fans." - Catherine Jackson (The Lounge Bar)
