Akanda is a community based website that plays host to monthly remix competitions. We are offering unsigned artists/producers the opportunity to remix established artists from well respected underground record labels - the ultimate goal being said artists/producers gaining exposure from the very labels with whom we work.
Akanda is essentially a learning tool for producers, allowing them to push themselves artistically and creatively, to show a very discerning audience just what they are capable of.
Yo Akanda! The new web site is a beauty. Love that Vector look! Trying to crank out a Lost Idol mix at the last moment... I wish I didn't put these things off... :) Is there a timetable when judgement will be delivered on the previous comps?

If I send you a blank cd-r at the beginning of each competition and pay the postage costs, could you possibly send the samples as .wav files? I know most of the files are .wav, but the bigger files (acapellas etc) obviously have to be reduced in size for the web. I get pains in the big toe of each foot when working with mp3 you see.
Thanks for t'add! We're working on a remix of Supersonic Mind at the moment, featuring some very old home computer chip noises. It'll probably be rubbish!
Of the current remixes of Beatbox, the Phour Trakk remix pretty excellent. Perhaps a little short, but some sweet production.
