Have worked in casting since the early 90's with The Broken Chain. Love it - specialize in Native Casting... Also worked on Pocahantas (doc), The Chamber, Richie Rich, Cobb, a production that focused on Natives today in Virginia (Culture and Pride:
I am a very proud member of the Haliwa-Saponi tribe, but just moved from RobCo - home of the Lumbee Indians and Tuscarora Nations. I am the Editor of the Country Courier, but used to work at UNCP - I love to pow-wow and have travelled all over celebrating my heritage - I used to sing with Kau-ta-noh, Jrs. and was the manager of Stoney Creek for a good while. I am a staff writer for Tanasi Journal (which seems to be on an extended hiatus) and for Native Visions, a local based Native American magazine - I am also Senior Moderator for www.Powwows.com/gathering (Smokin' Ace) and record my pow-wow calendar podcast each month - always trying to feature new artist. Had a ball working on a new cookbook (my 3rd) - already sold 100 in the first week - it the 5th one I have contributed to - 1st one I produced from cover to cover.... it rocks!! I worked with some other magnificant people with the UNCP Staff Council... we did this as a fund raiser for our scholarship fund!!
Most recently I am working more on my film making career. I worked with my Creek bro Bruce Berryhill to produce Culture and Pride, which just got nominated for an Emmy!!! My documentary I am filming this weekend is based on the Art of Storytelling, and the 2nd one is recording the making of a pine needle basketry throughout rural NC. I am also working now on 2 childrens books (beginning a series of 6) and on a Autobiography. I can't make this up, ya'll. And I never ever thought I would say this, but I am dating my best friend. Frankie and me are having a ball...he's cool - he makes me smile and giggle and ya'll will love him - he's really good to me. He is a good dad figure for Johnathan, and Rachel likes him, too. I am just enjoying time here. I attend Indian View church, and just am happy. Life is good and I feel blessed.
I feel truly blessed to have known love and to know how to love - some never learn how to!!! My Princess Rachel is a sophomore at UNC Chapel Hill, and she is bad to the bone, son...and Master Johnathan is 9 and grown, son. He is quick to tell you that is master of the house - he is digging his new school - he's involved in Soccer and Basketball and is having a ball in VA.
My children are the true heros in my life...
Here are Rachel's senior pictures - she is all grown up...
..
I beleive in love - I encourage anyone to seek what your joys are and cherish them - so many times we walk thru life and wonder how did we get there? Savor each moment - make your memories count - the seventh generation needs to know that it can be done. And as always - pray without ceasing... never give up - God is good - ALL The TIME and he will provide - why worry??? Be blessed and thanks for reading - you rock!
Some drum groups blasting from last year's Lumbee pow-wow...Kau=ta-noh, Jrs., Stoney Creek, Black Bear and Red Earth....Enjoy.
..
Who I'd like to meet: New folks - I love meeting new people from all walks of life - none of us are alike (thank God!) - we are all made up of diff things - each one of us has a diff "dance" - find your dance and don't let anyone change your music!!! Be real and it will show!!! Be "fake" and that will also be shown - keep walking if that is you - there is no reason whatsoever to cheat me - I am just one person - but you are the one who YOU have to answer for - let your truth shine through - that is what you will be remembered for...
You know it's funny - you pray for so many things to happen and they don't and you wonder why does God not answer our prayers? He answers them in HIS time - and it always works out for the best. I don't stress so much anymore - I take comfort in knowing that God is in charge and His is steering my boat down His path - I am just being obedient and following his lead - He's the one man that never ever let me down - God is awesome.
After you've finished here, you may like to hear this poem sung on myspace...
Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?

I hope you are having a nice day today. The weather here has just been
beautiful. I was so surprised that we didn't have a cloud in the sky
today and that it was 84. I hate to think of rain coming this way--that
means stay in and do housework, laundry and whatever else needs to be
done. (Maybe I'll get a headache or something to get out of it.) LOL
Thanks for the add! Don't forget, you can DL any of the tracks from our EP for FREE & check for updates on our new record. You can also visit us at ReverbNation & Facebook. Spread the Disease!
