Influences
Personally, my influences are life...okay, so u wanna know the nitty gritty about me.....
I was born into an already made family (my mom was 19, my father 15 years older than her, was married with kids and separated but got back with his wife) which made me the outkast. I was the baby to my dad and the meaningless middle kid to my mom. My dad was a retired/100% (by law) disabled veteran. Suffering from granades that hit him in Vietnam. My mother joined the military when I was born and has been in every since She's now a very successful Major in the Army (rank)IM PROUD A HER even though she was never really the affectionate type....To keep it short my father became a preacher and pastored his own small church in Norfolk, VA since I was about 10 years old...so I had to do all the leads/solo's for the choir (when I realized I could sing). I moved around every year when I lived with my mom because she was in the military, so I was always the new girl, always slim and always pretty even though it took me until I was in High school to really figure that out because I was always picked on, so I always had to fight every year, which was cool with my mom as long as I didn't start it and as long as I won!!! ( A true Black Mom) I always ended up proving that although I was skinny I was not a punk and could hold my own. I was a tomboy playing sports (basketball, track, volleyball, soccer etc.) I wore jersey's and basketball shoes like (Jason Kidd's) all the way up to high school when I started really getting into boys and realizing I was cute...it was on from there. But that's what explains the beauty with the gangsta/rough edge. I have always been very spiritually connected with God though, even when my mom who was married 4xs didn't go to church I walked to the nearest one by myself.
I was always rebellious, but as a child I just needed attention and support that I didn't get which made me independent. My mother was always out of town and never home because she worked a lot and was tired when she was home so I raised myself. I had intentions on graduating High school at 16 but had to return for 2 classes/half a day because I had failed, working two jobs I might mention (I hustled since I was young and I payed my own way) so I graduated Woodbridge High School in Northern VA (DC area) a month after I turned 17, and that was my ticket out of my moms ever changing house...I was tired of having the grown up responsibilities with out the privelages, so when she moved over seas to Korea I stepped out on my own telling her I had a place to stay but I didn't. I remember her giving me $100 and telling me if I cried she would leave me right then and there in the mall parking lot where I had seen her for the last time in 4years. So I sucked up my tears and moved on I had no idea what I would face as a teenager trying to survive in this world. I had depended on a much older man 42 to be exact to take care of me until I got tired of him trying to control me...so I did something about it, I was introduced to dancing...that was only the begining of a rough life...partying, drugs, and alcohol...that's until I went to jail for 65 days and woke the hell up...got right with God and moved on...I got pregnant and had a baby boy in 2003. I named him Future, and I promised God that if he let me not get any stretch marks and go back down to my regular size I would continue to pursue my dreams that were delayed by my conception. So that Dec.4 on my birthday (same as J-Z and Tyra Banks...both successful might I add) I got baptized and things began to change...I'm not Religious I'm Spiritual there's a difference...And the change don't come over night...but I am very serious( I work on myself, read the Bible every morning when I wake up and everynight before I go to sleep and I don't hide nothing from God like some hypocrites I know/in case u're wondering)....three months after I had my child I did a photo shoot with DJ Jelly of Big Oomp Rec. (the ones with the curly afro and the black and silver two pc bikini I was thick as hell, but no stretch marks) I immediately started to get in the studio and record at the same time ( with the baby on my hip but he was my drive I had to create a dynasty for him)...and In Jan 04 after I had my baby Oct. 29 I started school at AIU in Buckhead for Fashion Design....Here it is 3yrs later and I got 3 classes to go and look at what all I've accomplished...also bought my 1st DREAM HOUSE at 22 previewed on my uncut dvd "The Preacher's Daughter"....and they said I couldn't do it and that I wouldn't amount to nothing!!! This is my life and this is only the begining been through a whole lot a shit...but too much to talk about on myspace...don't keep no secrets, ain't ashamed a nothing cause it all makes me grow!!!
AND THAT'S SOME PERSONAL SHIT...U'LL GET A DEEPER STORY WHEN THEY DO A BIOGRAPHY (MOVIE) ABOUT MY LIFE IN THE FUTURE!!!
I'LL TRY TO KEEP U POSTED THROUGH MY BLOG OF MY ADVENTURES I'M EXTREMELY BUSY SO BE PATIENT WITH ME GETTING BACK TO YOU! THANKS FOR READING AND THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND INTEREST!!!

Akera Love Lee is a beautiful mixture of Creole, Jamaican, Indian, and Italian; born 1982 in Hampton Virginia representing an eager young woman, with a true passion for fashion, art and music. Her early influences in music were Prince, Sade, and Tina Turner; more recently Michelle Ndegeocello, Kelis, Ceelo, N.E.R.D., Limp Bizkit, Gwin Stephanie, the Fugees, Busta Rhymes, and Jill Scott. These various artists represent her versatility in her personality and her work. Her roots are not only anchored in R&B but also in rock, hip-hop, neo-soul and gospel. Early church solos and talent shows helped to establish her musical foundation. From there she went on to KMEA district II honor choir where she earned a position with the choir as well as first place runner up in Kansas State finals. Akera has also performed at key military and sorority functions which helped her in gaining the confidence she would need to continue her quest for her dream in entertainment at a young age.
Early fashion influences were Beverly Johnson, Tyra Banks, and Naomi Campbell. These models helped to change the fashion industry with their un-canning versatility to be able to adjust to any style of fashion, which is part of what Akera brings as well. She began modeling in fashion shows in junior high. Her next step was promotions and print-work followed. Akera has also appeared in commercials, music videos, as well as daytime television shows.
Akera has been drawing and painting since she has been able to hold a pencil and paint brush. She has completed several portraits and other paintings for herself and clients. With seven years of fashion sketching experience as a foundation, Akera maximizes her artistic capabilities by designing clothes. She is currently studying for a BA in fashion design and marketing at the American Intercontinental University in Atlanta, GA and will soon graduate with aspirations of starting her own clothing line.
Musically, her goal is to release her own successful album that consists of hip hop/rock n roll/R&B/gospel/spoken word with the aid of her poetic background to lead the way. Her ultimate goal, however, is to become a successful entertainer in all aspects including acting, modeling, writing, movie production and designing. Akera has been writing poetry since her early years as a teen. She has developed into a fiery, captivating word connoisseur that can paint you a mental image with the same precision used by a canvas painter with her melodic flow. Her spoken word experience dates back to Fuzzy Wednesdays in Hampton VA, where she also performed as a feature in a regular spoken word segment with 103 jams radio station. She uses her writing skills to their advantage and as a lyricist who can also sing, she is able to conquer all genres of music whether it be rapping or singing. With her versatility and creativity, her presence will be both felt and widely accepted and not culturally bound. She is a business oriented woman who is not scared to try something new. To vouch for that she is launching an entertainment company by the name of Versataille, that will be the hosting company for her modeling agency and a printing and graphic design company called Print Co.. Akera has also begun her own record label Dead Az Records to bring herself out as well as other artists without waiting on any one.
