WHY NOT TAKE A MOMENT TO REQUEST AN AKIRA TRACK FROM ONE OF THESE RADIO PERSONALITIES?
YOU WOULD BE DOING US WHAT USED TO BE REFERRED TO AS A 'KINDNESS.'

"Only the Building... This is not wisdom, this is a blind and all-encompassing perfection, a perfection not of man's making but which arose from man, or rather from the community of man. Human evil, you see, is so petty and frail, while here we have something grand and mighty at work... An ocean of blood and sweat and urine! A great monument of feces, the product of countless generations! Here you can drown in people, choke on them, waste away in a vast wilderness of people! Behold: they will stir their coffee as they calmly tear you to shreds, chat and pick their noses as they outrage your corpse, and brew more coffee as it stiffens, and you will be a hairless, worn-out and abandoned doll, a broken rattle, an old rag yellow and forgotten in the corner... That is how perfection operates, not wisdom! You and someone else, that intimate flash of honesty from eye to eye..."

"It's lucky for Akira that the music they make is so fresh and exciting... sign this band now." CMU Daily
"What all the hipsters are digging right now." Pure Groove
"We're mightily impressed... a band that seems to be pulling off in all sorts of interesting directions." 4/5 Artrocker
""Car-crash music shouldn't sound so sexy... discordant pop gold." 4/5 God Is In The TV
"The one overriding factor that they have going for them is the sheer scope of their vision. They're one of the few bands who you can really say are completely doing their own thing with no regard to what the outside world thinks it should be hearing." DROWNEDINSOUND
"Another perfectly-crafted curio... Akira are one of the most intriguing bands around now, and [Japanese Frequencies] should see that reputation spreading." Maps Magazine
"Showstopping centerpiece... [End] sounds not unlike a distant communication from a far swept galactic void from where an exiled Vangelis is found forlornly tapping out tear strewn mayday calls into the endlessly empty heavens. A bit of a gem." Losing Today
"I love the way Akira [don't care] about any trends. I love the way Akira forge their own way forward. I love the way that Akira sound quite unlike anyone else and the way that they are probably committing commercial suicide by recording 8 minute songs. I love them so much I don’t mind waiting 2 and a half years between EPs." Tasty Fanzine
"Aggressive yet restrained punk energy housed in lo-fi exploration... A band whose diverse musical kaleidoscope will impress and engage at every twist." 9/10 Noize Makes Enemies
Driven by too much sugar in their diet, Akira love the noise that music makes.
They say they stand for star-gazing, armed with the belief that ’popular’ and ’dumb’ do not always need to be interchangeable terms.
Lyrical preoccupations: girls, aliens (both evil and benign), global annihilation.
They enjoy walks in the park and watching sunsets with loved ones.
Making their way to Cambridge University from Lagos, Brixton and Southgate, they met in a cycling accident on November 9th 2001. They decided to form a band.
They spent two years writing and rehearsing before playing a single gig. They then picked up various degrees before moving to London and spending the ensuing time learning how to produce their own music, create electronic sounds and promote their own nights, forging links with like-minded bands that had nothing to do with scenes and everything to do with a kindred interest in pushing things forward.
You could call them control freaks. They prefer 'chaotic perfectionists'.
