The acronym (if it really is one) is a mystery. The band that refers to their interesting brand of genre-straddling music as “Experimental Sexcore” will explain that their name might mean: "All Kids On Rare Acid", or "Attention Kangaroos: Off -Roading Allowed", or maybe "A Kind Orator Recites Aesop". But the truth regarding the name is only that they will never reveal the truth. Then again…What’s in a name?
Ladies and Gentlemen…Welcome to Planet Akora.
With the lineup finalized late in 2006, Akora plans their universal takeover from a dilapidated studio space, tucked away in a long forgotten industrial park, located in the swampy, overpopulated, yet oddly cozy meadowlands of north eastern NJ. The musical product generated from this space is that of which can be considered artistically credible while still possessing the potential for commercial success. Using a blend of memorable, progressively poignant melodies, hard hitting, energetic, and pummeling metal riffs, dazzling technical execution, refreshingly loose grooves, outstanding, yet not overbearing soloing, catchy vocal melodies, and thoughtful lyrics secures the interest of listeners from fans of many different musical genres.
After a 2008, which included broken bones, staph infections, throat nodules, and all kinds of production- slowing obstacles, a healthy and focused Akora, will be releasing their first album, "Why Can't Sense Make Cents", in 2009. A DVD of cult quality videos plus live footage, tons of shows, and a whole slew of new Akora merchandise is also on the way. Stay tuned...
Austin, TX December 10, 2007 - Akora is the Famecast Critics’ Pick for 2007!

The critics have spoken...
“A total package. Atmospheric keyboards, soaring vocals, guitar playing that's equal parts technical and textural, and a rhythm section that can swing as hard as it can pummel. I suspect I'll be seeing them in arenas”
- Aaron Burgess (SPIN, Alternative Press, Revolver)
“They’re the real deal, they are ready to go. In a moments notice, they could be the one were talking about everywhere. “
