i must say that my primary musical love will forever be depeche mode, their best album in my mind is black celebration followed by music for the masses. and certainly we cannot forget the cure. however, vnv nation sits very close in my heart. i'm into other synth and industrial music such as apoptygma, and one, wolfsheim, etc. yet my electicism reaches beyond that, into my studious nature. as i study most of the time, and rarely watch tv, i hone into music of the fifties, particularly the music of otis, ray, and laVern baker (she isnt well known although positively awesome... one very saucy lady. you should have a look at her, and eventhough shes dead, shes one of my friends!). i would love to open a club that played this type of music, complete with an orchestra pit and dining tables, able to accomodate old r&b or music of the brat pack genre so that people could truly have a night out.
VNV Nation
Movies
hmmm, my favorite movies. primarily i love historical films, particularly those that are accurate, such as elizabeth (which i saw twice the day it opened). dangerous beauty is a good movie, although accurate, is tweaked with false dramatics at its end. i love drama and a good thriller. i cannot stand stupid humor movies. all time favorite movie and just the prescription for a needed cry: fried green tomatoes. mary poppins and the [original] parent trap are about as far as i can go with disney... i'm not much into cartoons, but i'm sure i'm going to have to learn to appreciate them! amelie is my childs namesake, and loved audrey's latest movie, "a very long engagement." a beautiful film. and i must admit i am looking forward to the da vinci code, despite the fact the most art historians probably arent as they cannot stand dan brown... oh well... i just take it for what it is... a fun read and not historical cannon.
and i musn't forget such classics as real genious, pretty in pink, and my chauffeur.
Television
really i'm not into tv... the world is better off without it, especially since it was originally created only for its
commercial value... most americans sit infront of the tube and waste their lives away and wonder why at thirty in the year two thousand five, they are watching threes company at 2am and are blugeoned by ads for technical schools and accident lawyers. i lived in italy for two years without one and those were the best years of my life... i experienced life rather than simply watching it.
however, i must admit i have one weak spot: CSI. i could watch that show all day long and is something i look forward to every thursday night for my weekly hour of delightful escapism.
oh dear.
Books
another book i highly reccomend, although slightly on the dry side, is "the bad popes." lots o dirt on the popes of old... even recalls the story of Pope Joan... yes, a woman! holla!
Heroes
what i could have done with him...
thats an easy one: my ultimate love, the one and the only florentine, michelangelo buonarotti. and his modern (19th century) counterpart auguste rodin. i wont go into it, as i could go on forever. but know this: yes michelangelo was gay, but he was also celibate, thus the miracle of his tortured genious. and though rodin shares similarities with m's art, he was his sexual opposite: quite the womanizer, who freely depicted their sex with living and excited lines, versus the cold rigidity of m's sculpture, so characteristic of his agnst.

Who I'd like to meet: people with similar interests, of course. i am postively thirsty to meet people with whom i can converse about art, history, humanities in general. i think the intellect is one of a person's best attributes, and i am ready to banter back and forth! i'd like to just meet people in general; talk about music, art, whatever, and see just what happens!
How could I not think about her? She's the absolute queen of italian 80's synthpop! Her look and songs were created by another italian famous singer of that time, Ivan Cattaneo, maybe you remember his songs too...After some hits ("Tenax" was even most famous) she disappeared and no one knows what she did after...we still regularly dance to this song here..kisses, hope to see you soon!P.S. Some gossip: Hanzel recently got married!
