Alabama’s Compassionate Care Act, HB 434, would provide much-needed protections for patients suffering from debilitating diseases. The legislation allows for patients to use medical marijuana under a physician’s care and directions. For individuals living with cancer, multiple sclerosis, HIV/AIDS and other serious conditions, doctors and patients need to have every option available to alleviate severe pain and suffering.
Compassion is an emotion that is a sense of shared suffering, most often combined with a desire to alleviate or reduce the suffering of another; to show special kindness to those who suffer. Compassion essentially arises through empathy, and is often characterized through actions, wherein a person acting with compassion will seek to aid those they feel compassionate for.
Compassionate acts are generally considered those which take into account the suffering of others and attempt to alleviate that suffering as if it were one's own. In this sense, the various forms of the Golden Rule are clearly based on the concept of compassion.
Compassion differs from other forms of helpful or humane behavior in that its focus is primarily on the alleviation of suffering. Acts of kindness which seek primarily to confer benefit rather than relieve existing suffering are better classified as acts of altruism, although, in this sense, compassion itself can be seen as a subset of altruism, it being defined as the type of behavior which seeks to benefit others by reducing their suffering.

Hey Loretta, need to change the layout and pictures, first thing is NO BACKGROUND IMAGE, it lags the hell out of the page, and it's ugly, black, white, or any shade of gray is preferred for the background, believe me, it looks more professional, Remove the translucency from the tables, lags also. Too many pictures on the main page, you know they have pictures on your 'upload pictures', that's usually where they should go, it looks tacky the other way. Just check out my page and see what I mean about clean cut and pro-like. Remove either the Norml Podcast or the song, i'd prefer the song, take the whole prog for the song off with it, speeds up the page. Other than that, the rest of the page is good/ok, maybe too many friends listed, maybe hide the comments?(optional in my opinion, sometimes you need that stuff).
