The roots of Alamantra originate from the band, Every Little Flower (circa 1993). This association has appeared under sundry guises, including: Professor Marvel, On, Grand Orient and Poor Richard's Almanack before finally settling on Alamantra in 2000.
Alamantra's music doesn't fit neatly into a particular genre or category and it's charm isn't necessarily to be found in any broad commercial appeal. However, the chemistry is none-the-less as distinct and identifiable as it is moody, eccentric and enduring. It possesses a certain immediate, real life quality that has become somewhat of a rare commodity.
"You'll never get anywhere with your music because none of your material sounds just alike. You've got to write songs that all sound the same if you want to make it." "While I’m at the game of pigeonholing, I’ll go ahead and mention that there’s a whole lot going on underneath the basic structure here – careful listening reveals influences from jazz and blues to psychedelia and avant-garde experimentation."
