About me:

I am an independant record producer. I've been recording music, both as a recording artist and producing other artists, for over 30 years.

Many years ago I founded a band (back in the late 70's/early 80's) called The Sharks. That took me all over the world and during that time I made the connections and learned the lessons that have enabled me to sustain a career in music.

These days I am mainly interested in recording and producing others and chose to stop perfoming in 2000.

I now also own a thriving indie label and really busy recording studio near Bath, which is in the South West of the England. www.western-star.co.uk

I also manage a couple of other labels for the Cherry Red records group - which I really enjoy.

..I had a book published in 2005 called 'Deathrow - The Chronicles Of Psychobilly' (Cherry Red Books)..... www.cherryred.co.uk

My websites can all be found by visiting: www.howlinwilson.co.uk

I have produced hundreds of albums and sessions, and among the most notable (in my opinion) are records for original British Rock 'n' Roll icons such as John Leyton, The Pirates, Mike Berry etc and many, many others from that era.

I also produce a lot of hot contemporary Rockabilly acts such as Bill Fadden, and Jack Rabbit Slim etc as well as a lot of Psychobilly bands.. Frenzy, The Frantic Flintstones, Luna Vegas, Cowboy & the Corpse, Judder & The Jack Rabbits, and Chuck Harvey's solo projects being just a few recent examples.

..

Who I'd like to meet:

..Most of the best ones are dead!

    ‘Western Star Psychobillies Vol 4’

    (Western Star)

More of what’s new in Psychobilly from Alan
    Wilson’s fabled studio.

    4/5

Volume 4 of the Psychobilly series once
again goes to demonstrate the wealth of talent that are laying down hot tracks
at Alan Wilson’s Western Star studio. Veteran bass slapper Steve Whitehouse’s
take on the Polecats classic Marie Celeste bodes well for his forthcoming album
and the Bad Detectives’ offering also flies the flag well for the older
generation. Respect where it is due but the really exciting bits of the
20-track album cone from brand new talent like The Eyelids, Henry and the
Bleeders and The Graveyard Johnnys. The latter have two killers on here that
fall loosely into the album’s pigeon hole and are real mouth-watering tasters
of what there is to come from band that are going places.
