Beatles, Yes, Santana, Blues Brothers, Leo Kottke, Steely Dan, Doobie Brothers, Brian Setzer, Led Zeppelin, Skynyrd, Credence, Allman Brothers, Jeff Beck, Mamas & the Pappas, Aerosmith, Beethovan, ELP, REM, Frampton, Grover Washington, Sade, Tangerine Dream, C S N & Y, Cheryl Crow, Enya, Duran Duran, Strauss, Jefferson Airplane/Starship, Madonna, Pink Floyd, 3 Dog Night, Doors, Depeche Mode, Queen, Cars, JJ Cale, Jethro Tull . . . many, many others.
I'm been playing and writing music for about 35 years.
I got bored with playing other people's songs . . .
Most main-stream bands were copying each other; that's a stagnant pond.
I'm thirsty and want to drink from the fresh stream of inspiration.
It's not easy to say what style of music I'm playing. People are always telling me: "It sounds kinda like . . . " (fill in the blank)
I write Jazz, Folk, Blues, Rock, New age, Fusion, Classical, swing, finger-picking stuff, boogie and more . . . most of the music is pretty jazzy.
I write and play what I feel. I just crystalize my current mood into music. I have a lot of feelings, so I write a lot of different styles of music. I'm usually pretty upbeat - and so is my music . . .
While looking for the right ‘flavor’ chord for a new song, I still stumble on new chords, new sounds. And new feelings . . .
I've accumulated several hundred chords, and exposed hundreds of emotions, mostly good . . .
Sometimes my feelings creat the songs - sometimes my songs create the feelings . . .
I like a lot of different styles of music. If I play 10 songs, you'll likely hear 9-10 different styles of music . . . I've over 50 copyrighted songs, so far . . .
I had been perfoming solo instrumentals for years, but now I'm teamed up with Jill Bowen, Chris Lennox and Joe Cavanagh. With a bass, a harmonica, and several sets of vocals, the songs are more fleshed out.
All my spare time is spent writing new music, writing new lyrics, recording, or rehearsing with the group, now. Everything is music . . .
So - what does the future hold for us? Well - so far I have invested thousands and thousands of hours of my life . . .
Make me an offer . . .

Everything else is delight, we are building a beautiful house and it is pure fun. Strawbale passive solar design, it will treat our poo and grow our food, wonderful!

Hi Alan, Thanks so much your kind comment on my blog. Do I perform for the Charity? No maybe in the future, I’d love to hold a concert for Children Aid Africa some day. And fortunate, I do normally get pay from the venues for my performances, well there were not all about me; but were all about the audiences when they pay me to play, they don’t talk during my performance that you could hear a fly, it's a plus :) Thanks for asking Alan. Have a pleasant Thursday Take care Avi
Hi Alan, You played well in the video, but the background sounded a little loud! Well you’d know that I don’t mean to complain :) Though, I still like this song :) Have a great coming week and take care Alan A big hug to you xo
