Manchesters Finest Comedian and Actor/Presenter! He won the BBC New Comedian Of The Year Award in 2001, and has featured in three Edinburgh shows. In 2005 he was named Best North West Comedian, and appeared at the Reading and Leeds Festivals.
Carr made his television debut as a guest on the ITV1 lunchtime show Today with Des and Mel. He also champion co-presents Channel 4's The Friday Night Project (alongside Justin Lee Collins), has appeared for a week on Countdown's dictionary corner, and has made regular appearances on gameshows such as FAQ U and 8 Out of 10 Cats. He also appeared in a Royal Variety Performance.
Alan Carr is also openly gay, and this is reflected in many of his performances.
He is the son of professional footballer and former Northampton Town Manager Graham Carr.
It has been said that Alan's voice bears a striking resemblance to the Rainbow character Zippy, voiced by actor Roy Skelton.
