Al doesn't have a band so he either raids other people's bands or he works with other "Rogue" players who can't be tied down. He's been playing with the same guys off and on for the last twenty years or so, and even some new people are being added for the next album. Long time players, trad rockabilly, psychobillies, folkies, and punkers- all good friends- all strange and creative in their own right: such as Memphis Mike ("The Legendary Tremblers"), David Loy ("The David Loy Band"), Paul Penfield, Gardner Sumner ("Out of L.A."), Frank "Silk" Smith ("Aretha Franklin, Curtis Mayfield"), Frank Parisi (Dion, The Platters), Max Bangwell ("Robert Junior Lockwood, Jerry Lee Lewis") On piano, at various times we have Don Heddesheimer ("The Outsiders", "Black Flag of Anarchy"), Bobbie Antes, Danny Dickerson ("Jimmy Ellis, Ed Bruce, Terry Gibbs"), and more recently, Erich Overholtz. On slap bass, there's Randy Chestnutt, on electric bass (and sometimes drums) Damien Price ("Balls of Fire"), or more drums by Bill Smith ("Rocket 88") - all great players who love my kind of music.
