I hope you enjoy my music. I'd like to know what you think.
I am writing and recording again, which is cool. I took a break for a while and it almost killed me. I am getting the itch to perform again, too!
The last record I released was in 2004 called "Down On My Knee". It is a collection of songs that are very special to me, some of which were written about my spiritual struggles. It was misunderstood as a religious record and some people pigeon-holed me as a religious artist. They obviously didn't read the lyrics.
Anyway, it can be purchased and/or downloaded from my CDBaby webpage at www.cdbaby.com/lynes .
If you need heavier rock, check out my sons, Kenny and Josh...
I have passed the torch. And they are lighting everything with it.
Really, really enjoyed it mate. Now that I can see what you're playing I might even have a try at it this week! great song Alan, and great singing.... Let me know when the others are up..:)
It's ok I didn't really feel like talking to anyone...I am a little better today. I hope you are doing ok. We can talk later. You know I love you guys.
Hey Alan, Yeh, Andy Mckee is awesome! Even Ty Tabor has a video of him on his myspace! There's another guy I was lucky enough to see in Scarborough who's making waves in the same style called Eric Mongrain from Montreal. Check out 'air tap' on youtube..... Thanks for the comment on 'Broken Jaw', pleased you like it. It is about halfway complete, next weekend we're adding more guitars (yeh, more guitars!!), re-doing the vocals (the ones on now are the guides), and taking a few bars out here and there as I think it's a bit long winded. Hopefully it should be up this time next week. we're also adding bits of percussion to 'Altitude', and then mixing them both. I have a cool gig today for an acoustic festival, check the 'acoustic lounge' on my top friends, there are loads of links to the other artists. I'm pleased that it's an opportunity to play songs like 'Afterglow' and actually have it listened to, rather than entertaing drunks (like the last two nights) with Thin Lizzy and Queen covers (not that there's anything wrong with those songs...but you know....). Cheers for the support, hope you're keeping well and happy, and that the lighter evenings make for happy playing. From a freezing cold Scarborough, Tom :)
King's X were killer. I knew they'd be good, but the sound and tightness was just jaw-dropping. Once I got home I heard that on both nights they were greeting fans at the merch stand...I didn't know....I could have met them! Arrrgh! But the shows were amazing...London was filmed...so my ugly mug might be on that.... :)
Hey Alan. Nice to hear from you. Yeh, on a musical level, all those things you mentioned ring true for me this year...some new equipment, being selective with venues and committments etc. I'm in the studio next month, and want to revamp well, nearly everything. But on another level, and I suppose with it being the start of a new year, the whole 'doing it better' thing applies more to my life outside of music. I'm sure as a husband and father you appreciate the deeper committments one makes as we 'mature' (y'know, go bald and middle-age spread!!) - I know as a songwriter you do too. Just being a bit kinder to oneself, thereby being able to be kinder to others. I want to get fit, lose some weight (I love cooking), drink less etc...I really want these things to happen...I'm trying for a child with my beautiful partner, and still want to be active and fulfilled in these uncertain economic times. Ahhh, y'know...all that kind of shit!!!! But today brother, you catch me on a very good day..... I'm going to see KING'S X tonight, and tomorrow!!!!!!! for the first time since Faith, Hope, Love in 1991 (when I was 16). i'm so incredibly excited. I'll let you know how it was when i get back - they're filming a dvd in London. It's costing me a lot to go - but these are my favourite brethren bar none!!! Anyhoo, thanks. and keep in touch. Tom :)
Hey Alan, hope life's good for you. How do you think things are gonna swing next month for you guys? Curious to know here in Blighty...if you havent seen it...check 'zeitdeist-full movie' on youtube.....scary, but fascinating stuff.....hope you and yours are well. Nuff 'spect...Tom
