Sounds Like
Pub rock, punk folk, jug band, pub sessions... Entertainment before perfection.
Alan Moorhouse, the front man of the AMB, is a very experienced musician: He has been playing around Cologne and Central Europe for nearly thirty years now. Playing his own songs, he performed as a busker, pub entertainer, TV comedian, rock band front man and as the founder of the Alan Abits in the early nineties. At last Alan changed to what you may call "Modern Folk". Alan's songs are mainly character sketches and stories of other peoples' lives. Referring to Alan's Cornish-Celtic roots, his new Band, the AMB, performs all the Moorhouse songs in a folky style. “Close your eyes and you could be in an Irish Pub” a German Newspaper wrote after a successful concert in Lennep. This concert by the way, is a lasting highlight of the AMB: The CD "Live in Lennep" is now available!
So the AMB is a highly entertaining Modern Folk Band with a multitalented front man and impressive musicians: Alan Moorhouse (vocals, guitar, harp), Gerd Lewandowski (guitars, keyboard, accordeon, backing vocals), Volker Neumann (drums, backing vocals) und John Thornber (bass, backing vocals). The AMB is suppported by two very special guests: Sascha Loss (fiddle, harp, guitars, vocals) and Thomas Kärner (mandoline, dobro, guitar, keyboard, backing vocals). You gotta listen to them! Alan has made three CD's so far: Two Studio Recordings " Small voice crying" and "Travellers’ Tales". Theses CDs, produced by Markus Apitius, have received airplay in the US, Canada, Ireland, Germany and the UK. The brand new Live Recording "Live in Lennep" is out now! The CD, produced by Gerd Lewandowski and Volker Neumann, can be ordered here on this site by clicking the e-mail link! The band is currently working in new songs and will be active around the Cologne area this autumn. A festival tour including the UK is planned for next summer.
Alan, thank you for sending the 'live' CD. I love it. In fact, the last I enjoyed so much was done by Pete Seeger at Carnegie Hall back in 1963 (I think). You'd mentioned there were a few mistakes on it. Naw, there aren't. The CD has what I expect from live music. Part of what makes performers/songwriters good is their ability to recover from an error.
Damned good CD which I have now listened to about five times. Please pass my remarks on to the musicians. They rock.
aloha mr. moorhouse, how are you? hope you and your band are fine!? i would like to see another concert of you, hopefully somwhere round cologne. best greetings Timo
Every time that we listen & write music... play an instrument... dance... act in a play... or work in some audio/image/video engineering process... something is healing inside...
When we share it with friends... something is healing all over...
Love can drive... in a simple way... everything
