IN FEBRUARY 2008 ALAN NEILSON IS AWARDED GARAGEBAND ARTIST OF THE DAY FOR HIS DELIGHTFUL SONG "THE LONGTERM FORECAST". CHECK OUT GARAGEBAND FOR YOURSELF:
"I could tell you a load of stuff about me; you know, a list of where, when and why, but that doesn't really give the full story does it?
You just need to know that although sometimes I sing as if I'm unhappy, I am fundamentally a happy optimist... at worst, a realist who only believes in chaos.
A lot of my songs tend to be based around stuff that I see going on around me, but when I sing "I" it is not necessarily: don't mix up the singer with the song as M Stipe once said. Anyway, in a nutshell my philosophy is this: there is no god so take responsibility for your own actions. Nothing is certain so work hard to make something work. Don't take anything for granted.. love and live life because after this, there is nothing.
I just think that this world is all we've got.. when you understand that you are born on your birthday, you are alive, and then you are not alive, it makes everything very clear... don't waste a second...tick, tick"
WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT ALAN NEILSON:
DAMO OF THE FRAMES: "sounds like jimi hendrix beating and biting pete townsend to a pulp...then giving him a little kiss for his troubles"
MARTIN TAYLOR OF THE MEKANO SET, CRACKERDOG AND MILK: "Like a peeled plumb, potentially bad idea in theory, but tastes great!"
J. LEE DANBY (FAMOUS NORTHERN ARTIST): "Your music reminds me of green glass chips they use in cemetaries... not quite blue and not quite stone..."
OVERPLAY:
Classed as the worthy other contender and described thus: "About the song 'Harry, Lyn and Me' - This West Coast concoction ripples with piano, 12-string and tales of lost potential. The vocal bristles with all the best bits of Bob Seger or Don Henley, while the elegantly sun-soaked vibe pulls you deeper into the shimmering ocean."

Thanks a big lovely bunch Alan. We'll let you know when we've got some more local gigs booked and hopefully we'll see you there! Thanks for coming down, it was good to catch up! Ian.
haha, too right mate, MPH does not sleep, he eats, drinks, sleeps, dreams music! Its really a privilege to be able work with him and realise my own dream of being in a band!! Take care
I have had a weird couple of weeks where I have had to do all the things I am usually very cagey about (play instrument, sing). Hmmm... you know.
Also not sure if you are getting my emails? Did you get my links to what the team at Elementery Online have been working on? They did some updates last week but could do with 'artist biogs' and stuff. Once that stuff is ready they can open up the site to intruders. Unless you want to just 'go live' with it?
The Mekano Set are coming to Wolvs on Saturday 21st March. It's going to be an interesting night!
Cheers Al! Tis true, coming back to the old country. Will be interesting to see what Wolvs is like these days! See you saturday for a 'right boozy do!' How are your ears by the way? Are they up for a rendition of The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore? Or do you fancy a go at Wrathchild? Don't Ask Me? Substitute? Coo Ca Choo? Town Called Malice? x
