For starters: Beatles, Bob Marley, T.Rex, Pink Floyd, Queen, Grateful Dead, Tom Waits, Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, Tom Petty, Paul Simon, but that's just for the latest album.
Alan Craig is a musician, songwriter and producer who has been playing and writing music nearly his entire life. While he leans slightly toward Rock, he also appreciates many other genres including Blues, Fusion, Reggae, Jazz, Americana, Latin, Country, World, Funk and Bluegrass. Alan was brought up overseas and lived primarily in Asia and South America until he went back to the States to attend college (which might explain his eclectic taste in music). He currently resides in the Tampa Bay area where he has been performing in bands for many years as a bass and guitar player. During that time he had the opportunity to play with many outstanding musicians as well as participate in various recording projects, a couple of these he either produced or co-produced including Al's Pals (2008) and The St. Pete Mountain Boys (2002).
His latest release, Love Is Today was truly a labor of love. It is difficult to categorize this CD since each of the tunes draw from such different musical styles. It is essentially a Rock album, but it has some Reggae, Country, Tropical and Blues elements as well. What is constant, however, is the level of musicianship given the amazing ensemble of players who were involved in the project. The main lineup includes Ross Rice (keyboards and vocals), George Harris (lead and rhythm guitars) and Dave Reinhardt (drums & percussion). These guys have performed collectively with the likes of Peter Frampton, Brian Johnson, Robin Zander, Rick Derringer, Don Felder, Buck Dharma, Joe Lynn Turner, Mark Farner, Adrian Belew, Donald “Duck” Dunn, Steve Cropper, Richard Elliot and many others. Other musicians on the project include David Bawel, Kyle Rohde, Rob McDowell, Ronnie Dee, Charlie Morris, Devin Rice, Todd Bowman, T.C. Carr and Steve Middents, all outstanding musicians in their own right. This album is now available online at www.cdbaby.com/alancraig and all the other major music retail sites.
Alan did not waste any time starting another album and is currently working on his newest project, Not Black & White. This album has been quite the collaborative effort and includes many of the same musicians who were involved in Love Is Today, except that it is more Blues, Fusion and Funk oriented than the previous release. A few of the preliminary mixes are featured exclusively on My Space.
