Life is Beautiful, Crash, Finding Nemo, Scarface, most anything by Woody Allen, Titanic, Alladin, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, (okay, I like the animated stuff), Wedding Crashers, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Usual Suspects, Resevoir Dogs, Casablanca, Lawrence of Arabia, Heat, Batman Begins... this list is off the top of my head and way too random. As I said, I LOVE movies!! | | Television | TV is bad for your brain -- go READ!!! | | Books | Now we are talking. First, I gotta say, I like my own books (Hey, I wrote them... I better, right?) That would include Hip-Hop High School, The Hoopster, Homeboyz, and Hip-Hop Poetry and The Classics.
But I hope to add the the list above soon.
As for other people's books, that list is soooooo long. Let's start with Dr. Seuss -- he was THE MAN!! Then there is The Alchemist, Speak, Tuesdays with Morrie, Les Miserables, pretty much anything by Shakespeare (and I am not just saying that -- the man was a genius), Monster, Go Ask Alice, Freak the Mighty, The Seven Habits of Highly Successful Teens, Where the Wild Things Are, The Count of Monte Cristo, Holes, stuff by Tony Robbins, Deepak Chopra, Wayne Dyer (he, all that mind, body, spirit expansion stuff works for me), The English Teacher's Companion (all Jim Burke books rock, though), a ton of non-fiction books on topics as varied as leadership to biography to history, The Far Side collections (they are pee your pants funny) and on and on and on.
If you need a good book rec, just ask. | | Heroes | My students are my heroes in so many ways cause they are battlin' against forces such as this planet has never seen before -- and still they keep bringin' it trying to get an education and better their lives.
