My English country rock adventure began back in the early nineties with my band The Rockingbirds. Inspired by the cosmic American music of Gram Parsons and the Flying Burrito Brothers, we made two critically acclaimed albums on the Heavenly (Sony/Columbia) label -The Rockingbirds (1992) and Whatever Happened to the Rockingbirds (1994) and the band went on to tour the UK extensively, with festival appearances at Glastonbury, Reading, Phoenix, Cambridge, and Finsbury Park Fleadh and TV appearances on things like Later with Jools Holland, Top of the Pops and MTV. The band split in 1995 but in 2008 we re-united to play the Heavenly 18th birthday celebrations at the South Bank in London, and this led to the re-release of the long deleted first album on Heavenly and a short UK tour.
In between all this, I've made 4 albums, 2 under the name of Alan Tyler and the Lost Sons of Littlefield, 3 for our Spanish friends Hanky Panky records.
Faithful - Alan Tyler (Littlefield Records - 2002)
Alan Tyler and the Lost Sons of Littlefield (Hanky Panky 2006)
So Far - Alan Tyler (Hanky Panky 2007)
Lonesome Cowboys - Alan Tyler and the Lost Sons of Littlefield (2008)
I continue to write and perform with the Lost Sons, the Rockingbirds, and as a solo artist. I also run my Sunday afternoon music event Come Down and Meet the Folks every second and last Sunday of the month at the Apple Tree pub in Clerkenwell, London.

The Jim Jones Revue play a special XFM 14+ show at The Barfly in Camden this Monday. The show will be recorded and broadcast on John Kennedy's XFM Xposure radio show throughout November.
A bit of advance notice - MondayMonday proudly presents Rún and Steven Finn and more at The Wilmington Arms, Clerkenwell on Monday 7th December
Rún collect and arrange old folk songs written in the ancient language of Erin. So far, thanks to Nora from Donegal, they have a nice wee collection of well-known ditties and are now adding to their repertoire with some unusual old forgotten songs from the province of Ulster. Rún are five fantastic lassies who perform four-part vocal arrangements of old Gaelic songs like ’An Cailín Rua’ (the red-haired girl), ’Casadh an tSúgain’ (twisting the hayrope) and ’Bo Na Leath Adhairce’ (the one-horned cow). Rún is the Gaelic word for ’secret, wish or love’ (cf. rune). See http://www.myspace.com/runceol ..
Steven Finn’s ears were filled with the music of Count Basie, Benny Goodman, Johnny Cash and old time country music. Aged 15 he began teaching himself the guitar, learning songs like Leadbelly’s ‘Bourgeois Blues’ and Charlie Daniels’ ‘The devil went down to Georgia’. On hearing Bob Dylan songs Finn started to write his own words and in doing so found a lifelong passion for Jazz and Folk Blues, a getaway car he could drive. Just a reminder that Clerkenwell's best Monday Night Folk Night will next be taking place on Monday 2nd November, featuring: Chris Sarjeant and Emma Scarr, plus floor spots and more
Emma Scarr has been active on London’s live scene for approaching two decades. A proficient performer on guitar, fiddle and banjo, in recent years she has concentrated on song craft.
Chris Sarjeant has been recently described as,".a very major addition to the British Folk Scene.." by BBC Folk-musician of the year Tom McConville who added that his guitar work is "...impeccable.."
Really looking forward to Tapestry on 18th Dec. Got some old friends / fans coming up from the West Country for it. Great start to Christmas and hopefully a sign of things to come in 2010!
