After spending 10 years with Edinburgh based band 'Splendid' , releasing three 'sold out' independant Albums on our own label and touring most of Scotland. i have been working for the last xxxxx months on a solo project which will be released on 27th July this year. with an exclusive download only single released before that. while the 'splendid' songs are more Teenage Fanclub, Fountains Of Wayne the new solo material is more intimate but still has a highly charged edge to it sounding like a cross between Jason Mraz and Travis with the occasional sprinkling of Snow Patrol thrown in for good measure. more trax from the new Cd will be uploaded soon and if you fancy a blast form my past you can listen to some of the 'Splendid' tracks at www.cdbaby.com/splendid
here is a review of the second 'Splendid' album 'Pull Me In'
The second album by the Edinburgh pop trio Splendid sounds like it should have come out in 1984, not 2000, and on one of the now-legendary indies of that era, like Factory Benelux, Les Disques du Crepuscule, or Cherry Red. Shimmering indie pop from the days when that meant bowl-haired kids awkwardly posing in anoraks and making gloriously unaffected, guitar pop with undeniably affecting harmonies, Pull Me In sounds like the sort of album that, in an alternate universe, could be huge. Singer/guitarist Alan Windram's melodies are as good as anything from his fellow Scots Teenage Fanclub or the Pearlfishers, especially the soaring opener "The Godfather Part III." The tunes jangle along pleasantly, and while hardly earthshaking, Pull Me In is unfailingly catchy and tuneful pop. ~

Alan! Long time no speak! How're ye daein'? How's the album coming along? We're playing the support slot at Edinburgh Folk Club at the Pleasance Caberet Bar on Wednesday coming and then we're off in the van to Knockengorroch music festival on the weekend (we'll play a wee open mike then sit back and enjoy ourselves!) Danny and I are seeing Roy Ayers on Tuesday night and we've got 2 spare tickets if you like his kind of music? We're toying with the idea of getting a scooter- you were right about that! A'm bad enough driving the van though...jxx
