Lee Majors' tracksuit in the Six-Million-Dollar Man, the colour orange, Emerson Fittipaldi's sideburns circa-1972, palatial garden settings, Frank Zappa's groupies, a spicy Vindaloo, Felicity Kendall's underwear...
Alaska Ratio is two-parts city cool, one-part country bumpkin, with a beard ratio of one in three, sometimes two.
They played their first show in 2006, released a self-titled debut EP in 2007 and have scribbled texta onto the walls of some of Melbourne's most salubrious music venues. They’ve had their music heard on local, national and international radio (including Triple J), and on TV as well. And they can be downright smashing company if you ply them with just the right quantities of Scotch Fingers, booze and uppers.
The Alaskans have just launched their first album, 333, and will be announcing show and tour dates soon. They are also demoing a collection of exciting new tracks ahead of a planned return to the studio later in 2009.
"Alaska Ratio is destined for big things if they follow their current trajectory … a very good record from an intriguing new band"
