Sounds Like
'Alba Nova are like the enchanting lovechild of an unfaithful relationship between Interpol and Mazzy Star, an intoxicating dose of heady glamour combining seductive vocals, decadent lyrics, intricate violins and dizzying
rhythms.'

Alba Nova are the only band living in a unique lost England full of chandeliers, fake fur
coats, masquerades and mistresses. They formed amongst the
cobbled streets of Durham when singer Guy Mankowski wrote a list of people he wanted to form
a band with. Late at night the small-town show-off started to songwrite with the more
perfectionistic Daniel Hoyes, and this unlikely partnership was soon enriched with the
addition of ex-jazz chanteuse Hollie Martorella, along with various mandolin players,
bassists, drummers and celloists. The band soon found the tracks of their first demo filtering
into the review pages of magazines around the country, and their debut London gig in
November attracted some of the British music industry's biggest names. Their first EP titled
The Beautiful Way To Fall is to be the first to be released on the new London label Comfort Records.
In Alba Nova's world the mundane is transformed into something endlessly romantic, decadent
and intricate, where epic stories of glamour and betrayal are played out in dialogues
between flirting co-vocalists and smothered in layers of reverberating guitars and violin.
Check them out before the imminent glorious collapse.
"Beautiful and spellbinding" THE CRACK MAGAZINE
"Luscious, evocative and shiver-inducing. Weaved with mythical and evocative lyrics, it is
in the transcendent melding of Guy Mankowskis breathy vocals and Hollie Martorellas soaring
tones that the band captivate. The chemistry is palpable" GIGWISE
"Intricate and deeply enchanting- the lyrics that scroll across the myriad of soundcapes are
as compelling as the music itself" AUDIOJUNKIES
"Stunning, passionate and elegant, with beautiful and poetic lyrics. Undeniably gorgeous"
