I've been living in the Washington, DC area for a few years now, originally hailing from Minneapolis, Minnesota. I actually grew up in Madison, WI but most of my band experiences are after I moved away from home. I'm currently in the DC area band "Shill for the Man". We started playing out in the Fall of 2008 and will have a new CD released during the Summer of 2009. It's heavy, melodic, fast, but also chunky as well. We have a song up on the band's myspace page, check it out. I am also playing in the brand new band "Above The Altar", based in the Northern Virginia area (Waterford, VA - near Leesburg, VA). We solidified the lineup in May 2009 and will be playing our first show in August. It is very heavy, but with a constant roller coaster ride that keeps you screaming for more. I'm also working with "Aesma Daeva" out of Minneapolis, MN. With them I have already recorded a couple of songs and there are more to come. "Darkness 2008" by Aesma Daeva is on ITunes and is me on drums. I have other projects and session work that I've been doing as well, so stay tuned!
Previous bands that I have played with include "Gorman Prophecy" Baltimore, MD), "Banehinge" (Minneapolis, MN) "Ocularis" (Minneapolis, MN), "Skrum" (Minneapolis, MN), "Gangplow" (Minneapolis, MN), "Locus" (London, UK), "Porcelain God" (Minneapolis / St Paul, MN) and "Contagion" (Eau Claire, WI). I also have other side projects and personal projects that I'm always working on or have worked on in the past. I love to play anything that makes me sweat and gives me a good workout - usually something with a good dose of double bass... My strength is in my drumming abilities, but I can also play guitar, keys, bass, etc. quite well and shred with the best of 'em. I also do a bit of singing as well...
Check out the new shirts available for Above The Altar. Available now online!!!
Below is a video of me playing with the new band "Above The Alter" at practice performing the song "Bloody Heresy" on July 19, 2009. It was just shot with a point and shoot camera, so the audio isn't the greatest, but it will at least give you an idea. Higher fidelity stuff coming soon!
Below is a video of me performing "Darkness Arena" for Aesma Daeva in the Studio. The drums were recorded live, playing along and then mixed down with backing guitar, bass, synth and vocal tracks. Recorded on 082508. It is not the same recording as the download available on iTunes and so forth - that was recorded around April 08. However, it is pretty darn close! Enjoy!
Below is a video with me on drums with Gorman Prophecy playing at Fletcher's in Baltimore, MD 081808. Song is called "Embrace the Moment". The show was for Baltimore's 98 Rock "Noise In The Basement" with Matt Davis. There was also a professional video shoot and interview with Johnny Alanzo from the new show "A3TV" on Channel E (Entertainment Channel) that will be used in upcoming shows. This footage is not from the professional video (that will be in the future), but this here is just from a pocket camera... Get ready to bang your head!
Below is a video with me on drums with Gorman Prophecy at Sonar in Baltimore, MD performing "Charlatan"...Live in 2007. Taken with a camera, so not the best quality, but still pretty cool...
This is one great company, and if you are in the market for new pedals or hardware, check these guys out first. I am now endorsed by them, but I had purchased and used their pedals prior to that and believe they are some of the best out there. The folks at Axis Percussion are awesome and a pleasure to work with as well.
Who I'd like to meet: More awesome bands, musicians, fans, music industry people, club owners, label reps...
