  • Bio

Albert Hobson was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. From a very early age, Albert was drawn to the sound of the bass. As a twelve year old, Albert made his own bass after hearing a bass being played on Sanford and Son. The next year, Albert Hobson's father got him a bass guitar for christmas. From then on, Hobson devoured bass lines by such funk greats as Bootsy Collins, Larry Graham, and many more. During those years, Albert was unknowingly developing into a "pocket" bass player. Eventually, Albert would end up playing in some great bands. Among the artists that Albert would eventually play with are Kenny G, Mavis Staples, Rene Escovedo, Grammy coordinator Larry Batiste, and many more artists. Albert has studied with some of the best which include: Carl Falls, Dale Titus, Tony Saunders, and Vuyani Wakaba. Recently, Albert called on good friend and fellow bassist Vuyani Wakaba to help promote his new AuDio CuLtuRes release, Breaking the Sound Barrier- www.audiocultures.com. Currently, Albert can be found playing among the top tier musicians of the San Francisco Bay area as a "first call" and session bassist. The styles of music he covers include Funk, Jazz, R&B, and everything in between. (AuDio CuLtuRes is a Nothern California Bay Area group founded by Clyde Childress and Albert Hobson, who have maintained a 30 year friendship) .. .. .. .. ...... Albert,
I wish to congratulate you and Clyde on completing a phenomenal CD!  It came as no surprise to me because I've been privileged enough to watch your amazing talents up close!  I truly hope that this CD will be successful and will open some doors for you both to release all of the music you have saved up.  More than that, I thank you for being my mentor and friend.  All the best to you....and I'll be calling you soon!

Albert! I'm glad you finally have a web page that people can check out! You are such a fantastic bassist! As Dizzy Gillespie said to Arturo Sandoval, "your talent does not belong to you, it belongs to the world". As a result, you must be heard by the world.

    Peace & Blessings,

    Your friend,

    Vuyani
