Who I'd like to meet: Love Albert Road day 2008 another stunning success an amazing crowd of between 40 and 50,000 people attended, the sun again shone on our fantastic road as people enjoyed an unbelievable amount of entertainment of the most diverse and bizarre kind. We had the FA Cup making an appearance not only on the stage but in my own back garden ! what an honour. Can I just thank my fellow organisers who worked their socks off all day, the acts who all gave their time especially for this fantastic road and most of all the crowd and members of the community who smiled and laughed their way through the day - what a credit to this great city we live in.---------------------------------

Last year a group of independent shopkeepers from Albert Road, Southsea decided to create something new and exciting to promote their street and give something back to the local community. They decided on a street festival that was to go by the name ‘Love Albert Road’. The idea behind the event was to showcase the diversity of talent, culture and people Albert Road.
Three weeks later the event took place and ‘Love Albert Road’ was born. It was expected that around 1500 to 2000 people may attend but it is estimated that 20,000 people turned out to show support for Albert Road that day.
Since the first Love Albert Road day the shopkeepers have been working hard with the council and police to organise the next one and are proud to announce that it will be taking place on Sunday 28th September 2008. This years event will be bigger and better than before with entertainment stretching the length of Albert Road from Festing Road all the way along to Victoria Road. Some of the many attractions are as follows:
