About me:
ALBY SCHULTZ MP
Member for Hume
EXPERIENCED HANDS WORKING FOR HUME
Hi, I’m Alby Schultz, the Member for Hume, and welcome to my official Myspace Page.
Here is a brief history of my background; I was born into a low income family and was the second eldest of nine children. As a young boy I would travel into the city by train after school and selling newspapers to help my mother support our large family. I left home and school at fourteen years of age to work as a labourer in a small country abattoir in Victoria.
Determined to better myself, I worked hard to become a competent multi-skilled meat worker.
I moved to Melbourne to learn more mechanised meat processing skills and would follow the seasonal work by hitch-hiking from Victoria to Queensland, ensuring I worked the entire year.
At 27 years of age, I returned to night school to study for my Higher School Certificate whilst working to support my wife and small child. I also completed two Business Management Courses at the University of New South Wales.
My background and life experiences inspired me to achieve a better understanding and appreciation in life for my family.
I had experienced the mindless destructive power of the trade union movement in the meat processing industry and the impact endless strikes had on my ability to support my young family.
That was the turning point in my life which saw me reject my family's traditional allegiance to Labor Party ideals and prompted me, to go into conservitave politics and make the changes I believed were essential to correct a system which punished people for trying to achieve.
Through my years of experience in politics, I have earned a reputation as a hard working people's politician who strongly believes in mainstream community and family values. I am passionate about our democracy, and will continue to vigorously fight for the rights of my constituents.

THE HUME ELECTORATE
The Hume electorate, situated in New South Wales and covers approxamatley 26,302 square kilometres which equivilates to representing 224 urban and rural communities or 90,000 people in Federal Parliament.
