I also really like 1940's English dance
band music and the ska and reggae music that's been coming out of Jamaica since
the 1960's. I'm always cocking an ear to whatever comes along, in the hope of
finding something that draws me in and makes life wonderful for a while; Folk,
Rock, Pop, Punk, Jazz,
Funk, Soul, Reggae,
Classical, Disco, Country,
Calypso, Bossa, Singing Millionaires, Penniless Pub Bands, and I have certainly
discovered some sounds on myspace that fit the bill. As Village People once
said; "you can't stop the
music"..
Here is a tune performed live to camera at AH base:
Has played in many bands, sometimes on bass, sometimes on guitar. Front man, side man, the folly is perennial. He is currently in The Formulators, who are in the process of writing and recording a CD of mellow acoustic pieces. He has also gigged several times recently with eccentric folk group The Rye Harbour Ducks who formed purely as the result of an appeal by the Portraits Side By Side Project in summer 2007, but now they all quite like the idea of going on to do some more gigs under their own steam, possibly under the name Uncles Leg.
Live in London, Live in the bleakest isolation location, he has gigged the south east corner of our nation. An audience of hundreds, an audience of zero, all of this has befallen our hero.
TV, Radio, Theatres and Festivals, Pizza bars, Pubs, Toilets and Vestibules. Sometimes hardworking, sometimes lazy, sometimes totally stressed out and crazy.
Is a keen songwriter and recordist, was a 2X BBC South Live demo panel winner as part of the "Cadence" project and "Mia Brookes & The Allstars" (who played 3 A.H. originals in the BBC's live lounge in September 2007) He's also been a loser on the same show, as writer and producer for country singer Will Conrad.
As a member of The River Swans, played bass and keyboards and was main songwriter on the album Horizontal, released in the UK in 2000 on the Biba label.
Has played alongside Rocco Barker of Flesh For Lulu (more recently of Dawn and Rocco fame), and Doug Sanders of the Lambrettas. Has recorded with Beverley Martyn (wife of John) and Martin Murray of The Honeycombs, and has done live sound engineering for Keith Emerson, legendary blues man Big Joe Turner, and a string quartet from The London Symphony Orchestra.
A short documentary film "Rye Harbour Portraits" made in 2007 by Sound Architect Music and Film Ltd has soundtrack music written and performed entirely by Alderman Huggins.
