| About Aldo Calabrese |
The gutsy, soulful country music innovator has created a totally unique, absorbing, addictive, genre-bending sound that has caused fans and industry professionals alike to sit up, listen a little harder and take notice. Aldo is a Cleveland-native who grew up emulating musical greats. First it was the fire, flare and fun of performers like Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis, Little Richard and Roy Orbison. Then as Aldo matured, the sheer realness, depth and undeniable musicality of Bruce Springsteen, Bob Seger, John Cafferty, Alabama, Marty Stuart and Neil Diamond fell into the mix. As Aldo puts it, "After a while, all these influences just sort of married themselves within me". And because of that, along with his own singular talent, he has been able to create an entirely new sound-country that appeals to the most hardcore country fans and the most hardcore country phobics-rhythm and blues with a twist-rockabilly that grew up.
Aldo's self-titled second album received both national and international airplay; and catapulted six singles to the number 1 spots on various Indie charts including: Indie Tracker, Nashville Tracker and Inside Country. And top five on Indie Central and Indie World. In 1999, 2000 and 2001 this album also garnered several nominations from the Golden Music Awards (GMA) and Online Country Awards (OCA). Among the nominations were: New Country Male Vocalist, Male Rising Star, Album of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, Male Vocalist and Single of the Year. In 2000, Aldo won the GMA and OCA award for Country/Rockabilly Artist of the Year.
The breadth of Aldo's talents, commitment to his craft and personal philosophy of "Whatever it takes" are evidenced not only in his music and industry achievements, but also in his live shows. In Aldo's own words: "The way I like to perform is-I like a very explosive show. I love to be with the audience. I want to deliver and I want everyone to go home happy". And deliver is exactly what Aldo does. Without fail he provides fans with a show they describe over and over again as "high-energy", "inspiring", "incredible" and "just plain fun". Garth Cornell of WKKY put it best when he remarked, "That guy doesn't care if there are two people or two thousand, he will entertain them just the same. What a great entertainer".
Aldo has just released Open Road, his third studio album. Recorded in Nashville, TN in collaboration with forward-thinking producer Ron Cornelius, this album is both a worthy addition to Aldo's already superb body of work, as well as a projection of the best qualities of work still to come-forging new ground both musically and personally. The album's title track (its second single) was released to radio markets throughout the U.S., South America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand on May 2, 2005. After sixteen weeks it became a number 1 hit on the Indie World chart, then the following week on the Inside Country chart where it remained for two consecutive weeks.
Fasten your seat belts and get ready for the Open Road.
