Al's influences come from that timeless era of swing! His biggest influences are Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, Matt Munroe and Andy Williams, Harry Connick Jr, Michael Buble, Jamie Cullam..........and more recently Billy Michaels!

Initially Al's sound and style was likened to many of the great crooners, Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Dean Martin and even Harry Connick Jr.
However as time has moved on so has Al. Having developed his own identity there is now a very distinct British feel to his crooning likened to Jimmy Young with the warmth of Val Doonican and Matt Munroe. Al would like to think he takes a bit of the best attributes from all the great crooners to deliver his own unique laid back style.

Al was born in East London in 1975 into a non musical family and brought up on a heavy diet of Irish and Country music. His first real interaction with music was when a violin was thrust into his young hands. This was a short lived experience and he knew it wasn’t for him when he was told by his tutor ‘perhaps you should consider learning something else’. He went away to consider his options and promptly agreed with his tutor when he accidentally sat on and snapped his ‘bow’!
Al went off and joined various choirs as a youngster but was very happy to take a backseat and let all around him take centre stage and receive the accolades and once again he drifted away from music.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was a decade or so later when Al decided to loosen his vocal chords and stumbled across a genre he enjoyed performing and felt that he truly belong. The self-taught and self-styled crooner became overwhelmed by the positive comments and praise he received from those lucky enough to witness his laid back style and smooth vocal performances. Initially Al's performances were at the request of charities and good cause events but amidst many rave reviews he went on to perform at many private parties and corporate events.
----------------
Towards the end of 2006 Al took his first steps into a recording studio to produce a short demo, which in time with several additions became his debut album, ‘Vegas Nights’ a ten track CD inspired by the music of Sinatra & Darin.
Shortly after its recording ‘Vegas Nights’ gained recognition State side thanks to the wonders of myspace. Many of the tracks were initially aired on Home Grown Radio, New Jersey and SWRN (Soron World Radio Network). 2007 also saw impromptu performances in Germany & Hong Kong.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2008 turned out to be a mixed bag of highs & lows for Al. Having come to the attention of an American record label he signed for Soron Records. Soron took on ‘Vegas Nights’ whilst Al headed back to the studio to produce a new album with an altogether different feel and vocal sound.
------------------------------------------
“Al Drayson is fast becoming one of London’s up and coming crooning sensations. His unassuming, modest persona and smooth, heart warming sound have found him a place in the hearts of an ever increasing band of admirers’ – Soron Records 2008.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Tragic circumstances saw Al developing a temporary lung crippling condition at the beginning of 2008. This took its toll on his recordings and performances which had to be put on hold. However as the year went on Al managed to get into the studio to record his second album ‘As The Curtain Falls…’ With light at the end of the tunnel and having completed his second album Al was hit with the news that Soron Records had disbanded and had left him unattached with a truly wonderful album on his hands!
--------------------------------------------------------
As 2009 begins Al is back to his best and performing once more, most recently at The Queens Theater Hornchurch. His album is also available to listen to here at myspace or to purchase at his recently launched website www.aldrayson.com. He is also currently in negotiations with other labels and receiving more airplay in the US and UK……the future is once again bright!
