ALECiA is an independent vocalist living in BROOKLYN. With a wildly creative mama and a musician papa, ALECiA grew up surrounded by blues, soul and r&b and got to listen and observe artists such as BB King, Ray Charles, Bonnie Raitt and Joe Cocker from the backstage. Since stepping behind the mic, ALECiA has opened for such artists as KRS ONE and James Brown and performed and recorded with a truly diverse group of established players: legendary mc's and dj's, psychedelic rockers, broadway divas, blues boys , jazz groups, funk bands, and some of the greatest musicians of the rhythm and blues world. She loves collaborating with musicians and artists from all walks of life, home brewing kombucha and quality family time.
When not singing, ALECiA serves as Co-Director of ART ACTION AWARENESS (www.artactionawareness.org) and works with The Hip-Hop Association (www.hiphopassociation.org).

Hi there alecia chakour first of all we'd like to say thanks for being our myspace pal. We wanted to make sure you knew the reason incase we suddenly vanish off of your friends list. The movement we've started for indie artists has grown significantly and consumes all of our time these days. We seldom sign into our myspace account and this is making several people believe that we are ignoring them. We are not ignoring anyone, we wanted everyone to know that. What we're doing has become so busy we just don't have the time for myspace any longer, so in all honesty we are probably going to just close our myspace account.
