   About A Train
A-Train is a four-piece group that features 15 year-old Alek Razdan on tenor saxophone, clarinet and soprano saxophone. Alek started performing at the age of 8, sitting in at local jam sessions. Alek has sat in with with Roomful of Blues, The Megawatt Blues Crushers and now performs with his own group, A-Train, at venues around the Boston area. A-Train was recently featured on Comcast's "Backstage with Barry Nolan." Alek's first CD, "Tenor 12", recorded in 2006 with the members of A-Train, received a highly favorable review in the July/August 2006 issue of "Saxophone Journal." The intent of the band is to introduce original and classic instrumental music to new audiences. The song "Tenor 12," featured on this website, was written by Alek, and is included along with nine other selections on his CD. Alek has just released his second CD, "Something Different" which was recorded live in April 2008. The recording includes: John Brown's Body (Trad), Special Delivery Stomp (Artie Shaw), Willow Weep for Me (Anne Ronnell), Fruit Boots (Herb Gordy), Theme for the Eulipions (Roland Kirk), Yakety Sax Boots Randolph), Raga Kutch Farak Hai (Alek Razdan), Footstompin (Red Prysock), Jitterbug Waltz (Fats Waller), Volunteered Slavery (Roland Kirk), Shiny Stockings (Frank Foster), Tickletoe (Lester Young), Prelude to a Kiss (Ellington,Gordon,Mills), Giant Steps (John Coltrane), Ocean Reporter (Alek Razdan), Night Train (Washington, Simpkins, Forrest). Each CD is available for $15. If you are interested, please contact Alek at lanaraz@verizon.net, or send $15 to P.O. Box 21, Rockport, MA 01966.
