A-Train is a four-piece group that features 15 year-old Alek Razdan on tenor saxophone, clarinet and soprano saxophone. Alek started performing at the age of 8, sitting in at local jam sessions. Alek has sat in with with Roomful of Blues, The Megawatt Blues Crushers and now performs with his own group, A-Train, at venues around the Boston area. A-Train was recently featured on Comcast's "Backstage with Barry Nolan."
Alek's first CD, "Tenor 12", recorded in 2006 with the members of A-Train, received a highly favorable review in the July/August 2006 issue of "Saxophone Journal." The intent of the band is to introduce original and classic instrumental music to new audiences.
The song "Tenor 12," featured on this website, was written by Alek, and is included along with nine other selections on his CD.
Alek has just released his second CD, "Something Different" which was recorded live in April 2008. The recording includes:
